in my 93 civic ex, i have the origininal standar rpm gauge, and about 2 days ago the thing stoped working.and now if i give alot of gas,the needle starts jumping around from 2thousand rpm, then it will jump to 5,then 7,then go back to 3,and werid stuff like this...is this a distributor problem? anyone have a clue?

it really sounds like there is a poor connection somewhere in your rpm gauge circuit. a quick check of your distributor's connectors would be good. it can be anything from dirt in the connector to a bent contact. you can also check the wires for any corrosion or abnormal wear. you don't need to be an expert to see if your wires are dammaged enough to work badly. don't fear doing a few tests like cleaning your contacts or bending them back into shape to see if it works or if it does anything. take a little time (you don't need a day to do this after all) and you might just find your problem or at least get a better idea of it.
