my Jett was impounded (Update: good news)

instead of polluting the "spotted" thread...

I had a ticket to pay on the 23rd (or they would suspend my license) I sent the money priority mail on the 23rd... I thought everything was ok.

Last night got pulled over, and they impounded my car. What will I do... I can't wait 30 days!!!!! *banghead* *banghead*

anyone... have any connections.... Brett? ;)

The cop was alright.. but he should have let me go I showed him a receipt that I sent an evelope priority mail.
he gave me his business card.

i had the exact same thing happen to me like 2 years
ago. i paid the ticket like 2 days before it was supposed to
be paid, didn't process in time and got boned when i was
pulled over.

what you have to do is go to the regie and get a form to
fill out for a lift of seizure. fill that out, fax it to the head office
in quebec. wait a day for a reply, they're gonna refuse it. no
question, they always do. then you gotta go to the court house
and get a trial date to appear in front of a judge. when i went i
had to wait like 4 days. went there, presented all my info and
my defence. i had that district attorney panned like a dogg, it
was mint.

judge was like, alright, no problem you can have your car back.
stamped some documents and then shot over to the impound
yard. they're gonna bone you for the towing and storage. it costed
me something like $180.00.

also while you're in front of judge, ask him/her to rid of your $434.00
for driving with a suspended licence... i was so excited to get my car back,
i forgot to mention it. doh! had to go back again for that ticket.

but my payment was due the 23rd... and I sent mailed it (priority) on the 23rd... so they only receive it after the date. How do I get a court date?

You could also talk to Saad, his name was performancegmbh on here when he was in town. The similar thing happened to him and I had referred him to a lawyer called Emile..

If u don't feel like paying the impound fee and need the car asap go see Emile (Lawyer) he's the best he got my car out real quickly and at the end it came cheaper even with the lawyer fee that leave the car there for 30 days.

no it was a speednig ticket. from 2 years ago...

so, then that might not be good for you. mine was techincally paid
because they has recieved it, it was just never processed when it
was supposed to be. was just a matter of shitty timing. if the cops
would of pulled me over 2 days after that, it would of gone through
and everything would of been alright.

go to the main court house in old montreal and you gotta go
downstairs. someone will help you out. i don't remember exactly
where to go...

fight the system yo! don't let me down. :rant:

I had like 6 unpaid for over a year I went to the courthouse in vieux montreal and paid them as long as you go with cash you are ok but don't wait for them to come get you cause the tickets get way more expensive. the guy told me i was real lucky cause my tickets should have tripled but they are lazy and it's one of their pressure tactics for a better contract or something so go pay while you still can.!
 
Hey man, my Jetta got impounded and I tried everything I could think of and got stuck waiting the freaking 30 days... That totally sucks :(

I called the lawyer slow_vw mentioned... I'm gonna go to his office tomrrow to see what he can do.

?QUESTION do you have to pay the towing fees when you pick it up?
 
unless u fight super hard, and say the payment was sent out the same day....but that will cost more than paying the towing and whatever else
