Just a thought, but for those of you going for speed, I'd suggest some Suspension and brake upgrades first. Otherwise your going to end up paying some hefty parts bills. At least on brakes. Stock brakes fade quite fast, and burn up with high speed braking. Wich will inturn melt some of the vital parts, i.e. discs. And why build a straight line car, yes they're fast, but once you hit a corner, your going to find yourself having to go through it alot slower then you could. Also, a stock suspension isn't even good enough when you have a stock engine. With just a suspension upgrade on a stock car, you can improve your trap speed by about 1-3mph. Maybe more, depending on how bd the stock on is. Stock suspension is designed for the everyday driver, not some that looks to get a hard launch. So your going to want a suspension tuned the way your going to drive. For the most part, any aftermarket suspension will eliminate wheel hop on the takeoff. When you apply more power with your stock suspension, it's going to get harder and harder to control the wheel hop and torque steer.
personally if I were going for speed, I would start with the suspension. However I also enjoy have handling more then speed, and enough torque to pull out of a corner. But decide for yourselves.
