Voir la version complète : Car starting in this weather!!
my civic today had a hard time starting since it was freakin cold!!! (ZC engine_)
i had a few questions what could i do for it to start easier (oil??)
also i was wondering every thing was stiff in my car clutch pedal, shifter was hard as hell! and for some reason some weird grinding noise was coming out of my speed and rpm cluster!? any way just asking if this happens to any one else.!

yeah, at me too ... my little accord 94 had a hard time starting too ... and my clutch took like 4-5 sec to get the original point after a shift, until the car was hot ... the shifter too, and my power steering wasn't workin, I had to return the steering wheel in the oposite direction after a turn ! anyways, ****in stupid winther

Actually for cold weather conditions you're supposed to press on the gas pedal abit for easier starts, but let go once it starts;)
By depressing the gas pedal about 1/4" it acts like a choke did on carbs since on cold days there isn't enough air for the amount of gas so letting in a little extra will make the car start up easier. *tu*
My Civic and all my cars I had started with the same technique even
in -45c

Cold start this morning, a few cranks, started, never looked back. ANd i had less than 1/4 of a tank with original battery. I love my reliability.

isnt the air more dense when its cold outside thus already having more air?

I always use this technique to start my car! Until today, I never had starting problems... I guess I will have now because I said that!!!

power steer didnt work
took a good crank as well
My battery is dying on me. I get the famous crank-crank-fire from the good ol H, it starts good all right but it does not have the same vigor when it cranks.

Yes but your car isn't at WOT on start up so the dense air doesn't apply to this mode;) *tu*
