problem with idle when engine cold mk3 jetta 96

when i start the car and engine is cold the idle revs up and down for like 2-3 mins and then it gets steady
what causes this any ideas ?????

other problem that shows up once in a while the little red light for the temperature flashes but the car as prestone and the temperature gauge is at normal ???

Mine does the same thing :dunno: when i start it when engine is cold the engine look like to a tractor engine *banghead* wtf? but ive paid mine 900$ (golf gl 2.0 1994) and ill change the motor for a vr6 in the future so.. i dont really care :p

sry for my english.. but it think u can understand me same :D
