Ok, here's the deal. I'm looking into buying a 98 VR6 engine from a Golf to put into my 97 Jetta 2.0L 8 valve. I've looked all over MR and VWVortex, and what i mean by using the search function, is that i searched at least 5 times on each forum. I want to know how big of a job this is, what do i need, how much time will this take me (i want to do this on my own, not in a garage)? I'll be getting the engine, tranny, wiring harness, ecu, and all accessories already bolted into place. I want to keep my 4 bolt pattern, but i will definetly upgrade to rado discs and calipers. Put anything that is relevant.

DO NOT POST STUPIDITIES OR THINGS YOU THINK ARE CORRECT. I WANT COMMENTS FROM PEOPLE WHO HAVE DONE THIS BEFORE AND COMMENTS THAT YOU ARE 100% SURE OF.

Thanks.

Chris.

go to eurotech on industriel between pie9 and henriebourasa they do a full swap

motor , tranny , computer , change to big brakes(keeping 4 bolt) change back drum to a disk (if needed) change the pedals because on my 1.8 the clutch is a cable and on vr6 its a hydrolic , and they re-enforce the chassy all for 3500 instalation included

i used the search and came up with this.... follow the same procedures for the mk3.. to keep 4 bolt use g60 brakes... and i find it hard to believe you didn't find anything on vortex  ;)

I never said i didn't find anything. I found loads of stuff, but since i went through so much, i keep finding people that say opposite things. It gets confusing, so i just want to hear it all from people who have done it on their own.

I've seen that one already, but it's an MK2, not an MK3. Is it almost the same? I think they differ quite a bit, no?
