mk2 tranny question

my friend has a mk2 1.8 8v , 1991 golf , for a few days now there has been some knockng in his engine , but we determined today that the knoking does not come from the engine but from the transmission , wtf can be knoking at idle in a tranny,
ther is no scratching or noises when driving or anything wrong wit hte tranny ,
can the flywheel/clutch/pressure plate be misaligned?? , does it need new fluid????

but his hears are fine , when drivng , shifting is smooth as new and never scratches ???
can they still cause that ???

sur mon cabrio la PP a casser et sur l'idle sa fesais un son ... c'est p-e sa car ma tranny continuais a bien shifter meme si sa grindais par en dedans ...

ca va finir par tout peter les dents dans la tranny alors sa rouleras pus sa shift bien mais pas pour longtemps :laugh:
 
could be also the springs from ur clutch disc is broken, they prob broke off and at idle there rattling around i seen it happen already when i did a clutch on a A2 jetta..u could still shift and while ur driving everything seems fine but sooner or later its all gonna go
 
a yeah , i know those, never knew they could jsut fall off ,
but ill take my friends tranny appart and we will c wtf iz the problem
