caliper arreire de gti

bon, la jai un caliper qui a chier a larriere (gti 16v),il coule le ou tien le braket que cable de brake a bras, la jai fait plusieur tel pour des rebuilt, le moin cher jai trouver, cest a 94$ avec echange du vieux, puis a une autre place le gars me fait un kit caliper avec la braket qui tien tout,dun gti 2000 pour 100$ ch cote (mais use 5000 kilo), quesqui serait le mieu, il ma dit que sa fiterait avec mes disc de gti 91, mais jen est aucune idee si cest bien vrai, dite moi quoi faire ????
 
Go with a set of new caliper from the Mk4 golf, you can't go wrong with it and it's not really expensive 200$ for both...

anyways, good luck with your repairs...

mais je suis pas sur, va falloir je change les calbe de frein a main, mais je sais pas il dit que sa fite, mais je suis pas sur selon moi
 
dit lui des les installer, si il fites, ça ne lui dérangera pas, si ce n'est pas bolt-on, il vas se trouver une excuse pour pas te le faire...

fais le test, on mieux, informe toi avec ton mécano VW, lui pourrais surement te le dire car il en a vu lui dans sa vie des calipers...

they're the same size as the mk4 ones

IIRC there was one caliper from a VR or 20th :dunno: that was bigger? i'm sure there are some mk4 guys that'll point it out...

mk4 vr6, 1.8t (20ae, 337 etc.) and audi tt 1.8t all the same calipers front and back. just bigger discs and different carriers on the 20ae and 337 (same as audi tt)

how can you have bigger discs and the same calipers?
i had this conversation with someone else recently... i guess, the surface area remains the same and the overall size grows, for what? cosmetics?

what about the 2L and the rest mentionned above? it is smaller or what?

man, i miss the days when all rear brakes where the same...

not cosmetics. pads make contact with the same amt of disc but on the larger discs (12.3 vs 11.3") there is a groove in the center of the disc.. dunno how to describe it properly. essentially the area that makes contact with the pads is further away from the center of the discs than the 11.3" discs.. this means that the larger disc won't heat up as fast and/or will cool faster :p

will also keep heat from the bearings if i understand it correctly
it is cosmetics really, how hard you think the rear is braking? i think it's so those RC's would't look so empty in the rear :D

also heard the pad was thicker, this is another difference?

same pads leo. yeah, i'm sure the larger rears don't make too much of a difference, that's why i only upgraded the fronts when i had the mk4.

everything else is the same up front minus the carriers and discs.. rear needs spacers and carriers and bigger discs which are vented.. stock isn't vented unless you have a 20ae/337
 
finalement jai commander des caliper original 16v, sa me fait plutot chier devoir les changer la,jaurait aime mieu cette ete lorsque je commencerais a en tammer mon projet, mais bon, jvais essaye de trouver un essieux a drum en attendant je croit,sinon ma les poser :cry:

salut , moi aussi sa mai deja arriver se dilemme sauf que moi je les ais acheter les galipers de 2001 sa ne fite pas dutout les osses ne sont pas pareil dutout et tu vas sacrer ta mere pour ne pas avoir acheter les calipers qui vont la. et les cables de freins a mais jai reussi a les faires fiters mais il ne faut pas que tu prenne ceux de volks, prend ceux d'un mazda 323 gtx 88 4roues motrices et meme la tu vas avoir de la misere en criss. parce qu'il faut qu'il ne faut pas que tu les passe a la meme place il faut que tu fasse des braquettes pour les tenirs
