thanks

what???

cutting the shifter will make very little difference in terms of throw length but it costs nothing so you may as well take off a bit (not too much!!)

personally, i think that short shifters are very worth it for how they change the feeling of the car. some people will tell you that it's bad for the transmission but that's really if you go very short and are constantly doing quick shifts

shift like a normal human being and all will be good with the tranny, just because it's short doesn't mean you have to shift as fast as possible everytime, this is what will kill the syncros

i have one on my 02a
i can't imagine going back to stock *tu*

thaks for the answers guys ! *tu*

but like I say is not necessary to shift fast as i can
it's more for the stiffness and precison when changing gears.

so should I go for it (short shift ) or just cut the stock shifter ...??
or do you have other solution ???

parfait c'Est ca je voualis entendre !! :p

That's a good deal...I thought it was around $250US. I had a neuspeed s/shifter in my old VR and loved it but I have a feeling its not the best for trannys. If you get one make sure its well adjusted when you install it.

Talking for an MK4, how easy is it to install? Pretty much bolt on, or are there some adjustments that need to be performed?

Just found a $40 Audi TT shifter that redueces throw by 20%... Is 20% significant? Most others I've seen are 30% or more... Anyone running only 20%?

the tt is a very cheap alternative which is nice but really i found that 20% isn't enough...
i have the hyperformance one which is basically the same design as the neuspeed but a bit cheaper. gives you the choice between 20 and 40% reduction. i tried the 20 first but very quickly went to the 40 which i found had a better feel. got it from Jeremie (JAVW)

there's also the B&M which looks like a nice design but is a bit more expensive and apparently is a bitch to install
