I'm done with VW. CAR FOR SALE! *byewhore*

SAD, RALLY SAD, but true.

After being a dubber for 10 years, GAME OVER. *td*

Long story short:

Bought that 2000 VW at 53,000 with ethe xtended VW ASSURED warranty (They call it ASSURED, because... You can rest ASSURED you WILL PAY.....) :squintfin

Almost no problems with the car itself *tu* , but with VW SERVICE. *td*

Twice I went to RIMAR VW (Closest to home) and they have charged me for what I assumed should be COVERED by the VW ASSURED Warranty. But NO!!!! Twice I had to pay.

It's not the matter of money, like if I care... It's the principle that you buy an extended warranty to a reason : PEACE OF MIND.

EVENT #1

Noise when turning right, above 20km/h and releasing the clutch. a REAL LOUD NOISE that makes ppl in the car say, "You hear that? What was that?"

- Get the car to RIMAR VW
- Get a call back saying the car is ready.
- I get there, surprise... An invoice for me... Like 70$ or so.
- I ask WHY?
- They say... The car has NO problem. No noise, NOTHING. and that I can't expect VW to pay for a problem my car doesn't have.
- I tell the advisor to send a mech. with me to hear it.
- He said. NO TIME. GO HOME. CAR IS OKAY. PAY THE BILL TO GET YOUR "WARRANTIED" CAR BACK

What service was that?????? This is NOT HOW YOU TREAT YOUR LOYAL CUSTOMERS

Being VERY busy, I said screw it, I'll bring it somewhere else sometimes....

EVENT #2 - This week.

- "Engine noise" - Loud enough.....
- Towed car to RIMAR VW - Closest one, again.
- They find the problem
- A Spark Plug has literraly been ejected from the head - Not "fallen down" - EJECTED.
- They had to tap the head to be able to screw another spark plug in, because the hole was thorn.
- New spark plug! WOW!
- NOT COVERED - I understand a Spark Plug can't be covered for NORMAL USE, but GEE.... How many time have you seen a spark plug being EJECTED??? This is NOT NORMAL.
- Last time Spark Plug where touched it was at de stealership.

Now, remeber that the car is 100% covered like if it was brand new by the VW ASSURED (Remember... ASSURED THAT YOU WILL PAY.)

And again... I UNDERSTAND SPARK PLUGS NOT BEING COVERED and I never asked them to cover something that was not. But the problem here is not just the spark plug it is the fact that something REALLY REALLY not normal happened.... It is the fact that it was EJECTED for some reason... I don't mind paying for the spark plug (10$...) but I'm angry at VW for saying : "YOUR FAULT - NOT COVERED"

To top it off, they say... You know, you car has 78,000 KMs on it... GUESS WHAT DUMBASS : THIS IS WHY I BOUGH THE VW ASSURED (THAT YOU WILL PAY)..

I repeat that this is *NOT* your typical spark plug problem.

So I'm going to pick up the car today and pay for the work done........

RIMAR SUCKS. ----> They really make you feel LIKE SHIT. NO RESPECT WHATSOEVER.

Am I ridiculous???

Am I asking too much???

What would you have done???

So why done with VW's in general? Why not just go to a different dealer? Maybe the one you service your Boxtser at...

I had the same problems with another dealer (have extended warranty, they kept saying "not covered"). I just switched dealers and have had no problems since!

I feel your pain though... tough luck man.

should have brought the car to another dealer, this one is probably only trying to do a buck on you, by charging you and then go to VW canada and charge them, so they get the money twice

really sucks to hear story like this, escalate complaint to VW canada and get those ****ers to repay for your repairs, i know it's not a question of money, but principles

That really sucks! I guess it will be an other call to VWoC

Next, time, go to Duval, it's close to your place and they are not total idiots like Rimar. They even offered a "cube de déménagement" to my friend who brought in his Passat wagon and said he need a loaner car with cargo space. I was laughing so hard I alsmost craped my pants when I heard this.

Thanks for the comments and ideas.

So why done with VW's in general? - Because even VW Customer Care (case #5009xx05) almost laughed at me for the "spark plug" problem.... They took long to call the dealer, then closed the case shortly after.

Change Dealer - Good idea, but when the car is stuck, they get it to the nearest one :(

call to VWoC - Already done. They closed the case because the dealer just told them "It's a spark plug" :(

Granby volkswagen never treated me like shit so i presume you can just go to another volkswagen dealer :D

I totallt agree with you. Rimar after sale service sucks!!!

My dad bought a brand new Jetta there in 2000. They were all nice! ... to get the sale!

My dad even got the extra warranty because back them it was only a 2 year warranty.

Anyhow he had a problem when his trunk latch. It wasn't a part it was wires. They looked but couldn't find the trouble. So he had to over $$$ for the time spent but the problem not found. (Over 100$ for nothing) Oh yeah and they had already charged him 45$ to "find the problem", when my dad clearly stated that the trunk latch was broken. But still, you have to pay those 45$ for the technician to see where's the problem is!!! Ridiculous!

He then went to Popular on St-Hubert street. They said it was a wire, they spent a couple of hours trying to find the problem... nothing. But they said: We'll put it on your extended warranty. Don't worry about it.

And no 45$ to do the diagnostic of the problem!

So who gave the better service???

"il ne faut pas oublier quelque chose, les temps sont difficiles pour VW.... alors quand ca va mal financièrement on gratte où on peut!"

Au contraire!!! Quand ca vas mal financierement on rehausse la qualité de notre produit ...

Next time you call me!!!!! Costa (the service manager) is well acquainted with my wrench throwing abilities... and Modesto Di Tommasso hates me horribly... I have already walked into his office, taken his keys and left with his personal vehicle just to prove a point.

This was when I bought my 99.5 Jetta VR6 from them... the nightmare of my life dealing with these guys... Hot headed, arrogant, A**holes!!!!

Needless to say... they SUCK!!

My experience there was beyond horrible... horrible would have been great.

I go to Nordest and Des sources anf I have to say the service at BOTH dealerships are amazing, Des sources's service is very impressive, they fix everything without arguying and the guys at the counter and de service manager are great

Exactly what I felt. They think they're all that.

what we need is a dealership rating sticky on top with negative experiences posted

This way we can keep a lookout for crappy dealerships.

:D

Get a lincoln dude, my parents always come back from them...

Free oil changes, free brakes, free service, free everything free ac filter, free belts, Every 6 months we come back with a 3 page invoice... And all you see is worked covered by warranty.

People bash a lot on american cars, but for warranty work they are the best. and parts are cheap.

i had the exact same type of problems with my buick at parkway in the west. all dealers are crooks except centre ville :)
