don't go full synthetic right away. for the next 2-3 oil changes, go semi-synthec. keep an eye and ear out for anything not normal. if/when everything is ok, then go full synthetic.

teknojnky, thanks for the tip..
Do most VW dealers carry Semi-Syntec oil? If not.. what would you recommend for a stock 1.8T?

the semi-synth for the first few oil changes thing is a myth ... VW recommended oil changes is at 8000km too, not at 5000.

I went full synth at my first oil change at 8000km, Mobil 1 5w-30 and then Motul 5w-40 after that, every 8000kms.

man first of all i dont recomend chnaging ur oil at 8000 kms i would do it at 6000kms but if u want to go full synthetic go for it **** this semi shit

Kosta, why wouldnt you recommend changing oil at 8000kms if thats what VW recommends??

well at this point.. I want what is best for the engine(seeing how we plan on keeping the car for a long time).

I guess Ill go full syntec at 8000 ish.

Thanks for the tip guys!

GO to walmart and buy mobil one. Serioulsy, It's really dirt cheap over there. and mobil one isn't bad oil at all. and the XXXX km is really based how hard you drive. If your rape your car then you shoudl change it more often.

The dealer normally puts fully synthetic oil in the 1.8T and VR6 engines... that's why the long interval between oil changes.

Just let the dealer put the proper oil in the car as you don't seem to know what you're doing.

Also... if the car's 100% stock... why would you even bother putting oil that isn't OEM advised?

what does oem advised have anything to do with anything?

regardless if you put syntec/mobil/motul/amsoil/agip I doubt it really matters.

sorry but I have to laugh... Shit man.. really sorry for your bad experience at that place.. I dont have anything to do with it.. and I wont..

As for the extra$$$ for the oil, as it was previously mention.. my father wants to keep this one A1. Unlike some other car *banghead*

I am now debating between 1-What the dealership says or 2-Quick grab from Wal-Mart. Sure I dont need the best of the best.. but just 1 notch above.

Thanks for your feed back...

Daso.... u are partially right.. but now I am 110% sure of what I am doing.

Dude I hope you know changing your oil more freq. is better then spending 10 more cents on oil. Oil is the same $hit.

Check. you are going to vw to get raped, they don't supply the vaseline and they charge you like 80 or 90$ for an oil change. when you can it urself for like 45$. Up to you.
