It's been parked indoors for about 4 days now due to bad weather, today I went to start her up for a few minutes, but the battery is dead. It's a brand new Optima red top I bought two months ago, so something is draining the battery. I boosted it and noticed when the car is off, the OEM tape deck makes a sound every 2 seconds, it sounds like it's trying to eject a tape, but there's no tape inside, and it never stops making this sound. Could something so small cause my battery to die in 4 days, or is it draining from somewhere else?

Yeah it's possible. I left my parking lights on for 8hrs and that killed my battery so a radio draining the battery in 4days is very probable. Do you have an alarm sys?

Measure your amps across the radio and see if thats the problem. Also I never liked optima cause it's gel cell.

you'd have to do a parasite drain test and/or take out your fuses one by one while seeing if your intensity changes.

Thanks I'll give that a shot. For the moment I charged the battery, took the radio out and I'll let it sit for 4-5 days to see if it'll drain again.

Just unscrew your pos form bat, and put ur ampmeter from the pos. across to the cable and see if it's the car or the bat. *tu*

It's the radio, I started it for the first time in 6 days today and it's fine with the radio disconnected...

Anyone got a stock MK4 single din tape deck for cheap?:D
