mk3 cluster wiring?

My mk3 2.0L cluster started to have seizures. The speed and rpm needles come on and go off whenever they want. The seem to work when the car is still cold, but they go to zero after about 5 minutes. The clips were on well when i took the cluster out. I'm thinking that one of the wires is rusted somewhere, and that it need to be replaced. My gas and temperature gauges work all the time, all the power is there, the clock works, the odometer only works when the speedometer works. All the digital functions work as well, and all the lights too. Which wire conrols the speedometer and tachometer? Any other ideas of what might be the problem?

grab a multimeter and check the wires. also, check your speed sensor in the tranny. it could be deffective.

Try this:

- Open your cluster up
- Re-do the solders where the clip goes
