Bah, a piece of plastic fell of the bike, no biggy, the piece hit his hands but it wasn't even broken, if you go on the web site of this rider you will see the accident in more detail. His arm wasn't hurt.
 
looks more like the plastic piece from the ramair to the airbox than a piston to me.
