I'm just wondering....will a $100 helmet fail to protect you or snap in half or something? Whats the point of spedning so much money aside from a cool looking visor and stuff.

weight, wind noise, comfort, removable/washable lining, air passages inside, aerodynamics, quick release face shield, colors/patterns...

For a helmet, the more you pay the better is it generally.

For protection there's not any big advantage between a 500$ and a 100$ it's more about luxery and comfort.

nothing more to say then what Daso did!

weight and wind noise are the #1 reason most of the time!

I definitly definitly agree on the wind noise :| I have a KBC that costed 250$ and when I tried my friends Icon helmet, he paid 475$ for it and the main difference between both is definitly the wind noise and it's worth every extra $$$ he paid for it.

you haven't try a 1000$ Arai yet! weight absolutly nothing, wind noise(could be better though) confort(like a well fitted glove) and plenty of aeration!

:D

just like my RF-1000... I love my helmet! So light compared to my old one.

Dan if you looking for a helmet you can get a shoei RF-1000 delivered to your door from a power seller on ebay for 440$ tx in and duty fee's let me know if you want a link to his ebay store!!

The store price is 780$+tx

I got my new shoei rf-1000 diabolic for 440$ at my door :p

Spend the most money on your helmet, it's soo much more enjoyable to ride with a comfortable/light/ aerodynamic helmet. I used to have a Shoei RF-900 and this summer changed for an Arai RX7 Corsair and even though the Shoei was a good helmet, The Arai kicks it's ass in every way, except price(it's $1000:().

Yeah the Arai are great, my RX7 is to die for!
i had others but now that i got an Arai....... can even stand wearing something else!

Je me dit le casque c'est comme le 2ieme element avec le bike.

Ca vaut la peine d'acheter un casque de qualiter.

Et tu vas pas grossir de la tete non plus...

..also composition is a factor in price, some cheapies are plastic and some are fiberglas composites that crumple and absorb impact better than others... and all the other things that were said..

How is the quality of AGV in comparison to Arai and Shoei? To be a little more exact how is the AGV XR-2?

Rossi race with one in moto GP, they can't be that bad. Generaly AGV is a good brand with good product for the price.

Try on differant helmets, that way you'll find the one that fits your head shape the best !!

when it fits right you'll know :D

Ya I know what you mean...I tried on the Arai RX-7 and it fit like a glove....but it's just too damn expensive :(

I tried my buddy's AGV X-Vent on and it's funny, but the first time I found it tight where my temple was but the second time I tried it on it actually fit very well. Maybe I didn't put it on right the first time. :dunno:

the paint is also an issue. The paint on a cheaper helmet will chip easier than on expensive one, if you were to drop it for example.
