Im changing my transmission fluid for the first time on my accord.
I can clearly see the drain bolt. But there are two other bolts, im not sure which one is the fill bolt. Heres a pic.

Is it the one on the left or right??

usually filler plug are not HEX headed , they are square holed . i remember doing the exact same job that you are doing right now , but shit i can't remember which one it is and i can't see shit on your picture

EDIT : NVM it was on a civic d15 , the plugs are on the back of the engine not on the side on the d15

Stilll like my Saturn.. fill on top, drain at bottom.. how logic is that? :D
it is really logic , but like i said , the one on top shoudl be square drive , usually honda uses square drives on tranny plugs

No what I mean is the Drain hole is under the car..

And the fill hole is in the engine bay, with a gage to tell me how much to add..

Honda seems to have 2 bolts under the car.. wtf?
Easy , the lower hole is to drain the oil out , the upper oil is to fill , you need a special tool to fill it (some kinda pump)
Usually you fill it till the tranny fluid is equal in height to the bottom of the highest hole

Pratiquement tous les transmissions manuel sont fait comme ca...

tranny

Le trou à gauche et ca te prend une genre de burette pour le rempir. Regarde dans ton manuel pour la quantité.

Find the right hole/bolt because the last thing you want is a spring to flyout or a ball to pop out

thats what i thought, but i have a 15 or 17mm hex for my fill plug, thats on a dx tranny.

honda makes it so that only the nessisary amount of fluid can be added. if the hole were on top someone who doesnt know any better could assume that it needs to be filled to the top

dude, take my word for it... ive taken apart honda transmissions before and that bolt on the right is to remove the snap ring on the shaft. also on all the honda trannies ive seen the filler bolt is on the differential side

also, i double checked in the helms for your car and it says that the one on the left is the filler bolt.

also, take people's "best guesses" as a grain of salt

after all this watch it be the right one... LOL Joking, i know its the left for a fact

good luck with the job, out of curiosity did you end up going with the GM synchromesh?

hey, i did the mtf change and i didnt end up getting the gm syncromesh, i used good old honda mtf.

it was infact the left bolt. it was super easy, only difficult part was gettting the fluid in the tranny. for this i used a long tube on my reg. funnel.

The shifting is a tiny bit smoother, the tranny was very good before anyways.
im regretting not getting a magnetic drain plug... next time.

oh yea, also the car needs to be level, so i measured the height of the car, and then i lifted the front right of the car (corner where i was working) and removed tire, then lowered it to the original height, wasnt too much room, but it was enough

your transmission should already have a magnet for pickup... as long as you dont grind gears regularly i wouldnt worry about it
