hey guys im thinking about buying a yamaha raptor or banshee, and was wondering how versatile these things are in the winter, cause i would like to still be able to use it in our "lovely" winter months. If any of you use yours in the winter or know anything about this, some info would be appreciated

thanks,
Darryl

If you have good snow tire like the Maxxis 4snow you will not have any prob in the winter with any sport atv.

hey ther my buddy has an 03 raptor he uses it all winter all he did was slap on some good winter tires and all is good just dont expect to go in deep snow.. thats why im looking either at the new yamaha grizzly 660 or the honda rincon well see anyways goodluck and go for the raptor *tu* its a bomb and a half with stock top speed of 160kms per hour maybe more :D

you just buy 4snow / proedge and it's fine

and if you're mechanically enclined get a banshee, if not, a raptor.

it's a world of difference in terms of maintenance.. the banshee you have to work like 1h on the bike each time you ride it.

have fun

Really? the Banshee is that picky? i was thinking of picking one up next spring/summer. What about a Warrior?

warrior is 4 stroke so it's not picky

but yes the banshees are picky, well you can maybe maintain them less, but you'll pay the price of it breaking.

You have to clean your air filter in gaz almost every ride depending on dirt, then spray it. You have to chgeck your chain and oil it every time, you have to pre mix your gaz (which costs more than a 4 stroke... 20$ gaz and 6$ oil for a 20L can)

Then you have all the little things like changing your jets. On a motocross you change the jets in 3 seconds, on a banshee you need to unplug your carburators, then unscrew the cap over the floater (then gas spills) then change the jet and put back everything together. Usually when it's top shape you change your jet twice a year (summer/winter).

Oh if you have a stock or mildly modified banshee it should be not that trouble. If you start changing lots of things it comes more picky. You could get a stock one with maybe boost bottles and pipes/exhaust and shouldn't get too much problem. You still need to clean filter and oil chain often.

Thanks for the tips MrSpace *tu*

I have my eyes on a banshee for the fact of it being a 2 stroke, i find 2 stroke engines are so much simpler to deal with for some reason. I also read the reviews that the Banshee has a good suspension for jumps...etc...where as the Warrior will tend to bottom out more often on a jump?

Anyways, its between a Banshee or Warrior for me..id prefer the Banshee, but if its too much hassle, then i guess the warrior is a better buy.

btw, either way i have No intention on doing modifications.
