I noticed on my mazda that there are 2 rad caps

one being 13lbs (Small cap) then on the rad one being larger 16lbs...

Now if I remember correctly this would pose some pressure issues? Since they act of "valves" controlling presure and vacuum

I am going to change them but what should I get 2x 13lbs or 2x 16lbs

Isin't it because the pressure going through each point is different ? Maybe not...

presure of a cooling system should be the same at all points.

If pressure builds up past lets say 16lbs the cap open automatically and releases the pressure

the more pressure the better the cooling.
if the 16 psi cap is a direct replacement go for it.

you might want to make sure everything is in top shape before "boosting" your coolant system pressure. If your rad is old and coroded, i'd stick with the lower pressure cap. if everything is good and not leaking, get the higher pressure.

FWIW, i'm running a 18psi cap for the last 3 years with no problems.
