Winter tires?

Stupid question. I always see people throwing on winter tires at the track when they're not using Drag Radials or Slicks, and I've been told that it's because the compound is stickier than all-seasons when it's hot. Is this true?

Last time I pulled a 2.033 60 foot on the All-season Yokohamas (215/60/15) and I'm wondering if it'd be possible to do a 1.9xx. I prefer street tires for bracket racing since a) they don't break axles and b) my reaction times are better.

Is it worth getting 2 of 'em for the front? I want something that I ran run all the time on, not have to change tires at the track.

I have no traction on my winter tires

I think they change the tires because they dont want to ruin their street tires

I'd invest in a set of DR's

then you probably have shitty 4 season tires, or low profiles. Winter tires usually have a very soft sidewall, witch flex more and might helps with traction.
