On my mom's civic, the battery indicator keeps flashing and it's been doing it for days. She drives it still and nothing is happening. Sometimes it comes on, sometimes it doesn't. Once she revved it high in park and it went off. I looked at the battery and the alternator, do you guys have any idea what it could be? The owner's manual says something like the gas cap isn't tight enough.

define what looking at the battery/alternator is for you.
Did you test it or merely inspect it visually?

If the gas cap wasnt tight enough, its the check engine that would come on with a trouble code for the EVAP system, not the battery light.

I recommend you do a battery/charging system test.
They can even do it for you @ canadian tire.

i looked at it visually to see if the poles were corroded or anythng, i was actually gonna go to canadian tire when i posted this, i thought it closed at 6 but it closed at 5.

Its your alternator on its way out - though you can go get it tested if you like.

I would know as it happened to me for the second time two weeks ago.. and wouldn't you know the fact that I am a few months (4) over the warranty.

Just give a slight warning to your mother - if more warning lights (like ABS light if you have) comes on, stop driving the car

That would be a wise choice, changing parts without without troubleshooting first can be costly and frustrating.
