Well I was driving my gf home and realized my tach wasn't moving and my dash lights were really dim. So I drop her off and drive to the tim hortons (2mins away max). I park and check my car to look for problems everything seems to be fine.
I go to start my car and it struggles to start. I let it roll down the hill and pop it in gear to start it and it starts fine. So I continue driving home as I know a problem will occur.
As I am driving the ECU will only let me hit about 2500-3000 RPM's before hitting the cut off. So I know the ECU went into Safe Mode (Not sure the proper term). So at this point I realize I am ****ed. As I am a 20 ft distance from my driveway the check engine light comes on but the engine is still on. Then all of a sudden it cuts out and I coast into the driveway.
Now I try to start the car and it tries to crank over and nothing. At some point I lost all power in the car.

Now with this all being said. What do you think the problem is?
I am ****ed because I have no money and I need the car to goto work :(

my brother had the same problem with his and at first we thought it was the wiring harness then it ended we found out by bring it to a mechanic he told us it was in something called "safe mode" and till this day i dont know what safe mode is but im just saying your car could be safe mode.

Owen, Motor isn't seized. It started this morning and ran. It's wierd it wouldn't start last night but did this morning after I let it sit. I think my car is possessed.
If you want a good car to mess with for mechanics heh my car is a nice car to fix lol

^are you huys joking:dunno:

Why would we be joking??

Last time my alternator dies on me, these were the symptoms...

My speedo stopped working, engine light came on, my lights were dim, VTEC would not engage, rev limiter was at i believe 6500rpm (GSR motor/ecu) and yea, my car ended up dying on me on my street, i tryed starting it again and nothing, pushed it into my garage, then, next morning, tried starting the car, and it started. Turned out to be the alternator.

In most cases, on a Honda/Acura, when your alternator dies, your alternator/VSS fuse blows, which in turn switches the ECU to so called "Safe mode".

Anyway, you don't gotta take my word for it, i'm just saying that this sound pretty similar to my situation, so it may not be his alternator, but it would probably be a good place to start.

je seconde!!!!! meme chose est arriver a moi. rebuilder l'alternateur et voila! comme neuf.

My 92 accord does that all the time! Sometimes it doesn't start, but if I wait a few minutes and make sure all the spark plug wires are plugged in properly I get back in the car and it starts the first shot! WTF!? Must be the wires... Maybe they're loose.

the alternator dident fail. the bat never lost its charge. dont just jump to conclusions and start changing shit. dosent matter what happend to other people. you have to do tests before making a decision as to what happend. alwys.

I figured out what it was when I had time to start taking the motor apart. Such a simple problem.

Not one person was close either. Alternator is fine, Battery is fine, Fuses are fine, Plugs are fine. All it cost me was time. Let's see who figures it out.

you had a gerbil stuck in your intake?

ie the filter was filthy and you werent getting any air into the engine?

well if ur engine went into safe mode meaning it doesnt run at optimum so the car doesnt run so hard on itself and goin by the symptons maybe it is was just a wire u had to plug or unplug, loose connection? let me no if i am right or not and just let me no the proceedure u did to find the problem.

No one is right yet.
I checked everything people suggested before. So I decided to see what codes it was throwing. It was throwing code 16. Which is Fuel Injection. So I checked all my fuses and everything was fine. I started to open up the throttle body and realized the choke and gas were stuck a bit open so it would flood the car. After cleaning that and putting it back to normal. The car started and runs perfect
