I am buying a GIAC off someone, before he sends it out what do I need to know besides making sure both are AWD codes?
This is a GIAC that solders into the ECU, 1.0 bar.

Thanks!

call up giac and see if you can get the latest program. Getting used chips is ok, but GIAC has like tons and tons of versions.

Actually it posted 3 times, if the mods can close the other 2 it would be appreciated, Thanks and sorry about that....

you can close it yourself dude ... just get in the thread ....
click on the button modifier dans le bas droit du post .. then aller en mode avancé puis suppression du message

the only thing you have to make shure is connect the VAG-com to both cars and make shure that the computer # are the same, if it's the same no issues,

BTW some people will tell you to check on the top of your computer there the # writhed down, but some time, the boxes as been changed so just to be shure do step 1

I hope you are getting a really good deal on the GIAC chip because Unitronic is on special at $300 at VAG. Just a thought. Happy chipping.

I think he wants for 1.8T, so it's more then 300, plus giac is quicker.

How much quicker? Has anyone done a real comparison, ie. dyno sheets?

1) I don't wanna start a debate, but dubbin and I both trapped 105mph on GIAC. I'd like to see others trap this high with other chips.

2)I have beat several 1.8T chipped.

3) The fastests stock turbo 1.8T of the world are all on GIAC.

I rest my case.

Anyways every chip has their own thing. Pick one that best suits your needs and enjoy what you have!

I wasn't looking for a debate, I was simply asking a question. I have another dub to chip and I'm getting tired of reading answers with nothing to back them up.

Roccodan,

At this point I'm thinking that the best chips are the ones that come with good customer service. I mean really, what's a 5 hp here or there.(flame away dudettes)

Best chips are the chips that don't need customer service period. :D
Anyways if you want smoothness GIAC is not for you.

Adam,
service includes sales and installation.

And we all know that only real men can handle GIAC, common.

Good show guys, thanks for all the info, and it will cost about $300 installed. I will vag-com and make sure that the computer numbers match.....do all the computer numbers have to match, never vag-com-ed my car, I guess any sports shop can do this for a few bucks......
