Intercoolers..

hey guys, i don't own an mk yet, but i think that in the near future, ill be buying a 1.8t, and i wanted to do the whole engine/chip/intercooler thing... now what i was wondering was.... Just how much of an improvement over the stock intercooler is an aftermarket one.... how much can u expect to gain by such a mod? what is the price range of a good IC? I saw in another thread that $200 would get u a ghetto one... so say 400$, is it a worthwhile investment?

for gains you would need a bigger turbo, chip, exhaust, downpipe and then you will see the biggest difference

You are not going to gain much if anything using a FMIC on a stock turbo. The only difference you are going to see is consistency. The bigger IC will be less prone to heat soak.

I don't really understand that affirmation, could you explain me why?

Are you talking performance wise? (I don't see how a good small core could outperform a good large core. If your talking about pressure drop, you won't have to worry about that on high quality core)

Would that be, space wise? Being smaller make it easier to fit? Or it doesn't obstruct your radiator, oil-cooler lines or such?
