I might be looking for a new daily/work/commuter what kind of mileage range can I expect from a full tank of gas. What are the points to check out on those. Thanks Im new to the diesel world

i never got more then 800km a tank and with winter diesel it goes down a other 100-150. i went from a vr to my tdi, and to be very honest i love this car alot, for very little money u can make it as fast as a vr and diesel engines will last you for ever. its not for everyone, if u dont mind playing with it once in a while go for it, the mk4 dont come with a block heater but u can make one yourself alot of us ( montreal tdi people) have a zerostart heater, i also have a timer thats starts the heater 2 hours before i leave, and i can also start it with a remote ( its 40$ at canadian tire, worth every penny). check out if the timing belt on the car has been done if u buy it used, and find out who did it and what parts where changed, theres more then just the belt that has to be done. if u have more questions go on www.tdiclub.com theres a quebec section towards the bottem, all the guys are really cool. or theres a diesel section on vwquebec.ca, there are no tdi guys on MR from what i know so u wont get much info from here. check out the vw classified theres one that looks preatty good silver 2 door 2000

i get 850kms per tank (50l) in the summer and a beat the hell out of it. and its also oversized to 2.0l. in the winter its normal to get a small drop in milage because of the additives in the fuel.
