there's no such thing as a 500hp 8v.

I would tend to agree... How do you expect to move that much air in and out of an 8V, non-crossflow engine?

I love the things (8V I mean...), but geez, I find that really hard to believe.

Must be soo fun to drive. but not in town. 0-100 at every stop you sure need those big brakes.

Yeah yeah, don't be hatin' the 8v's just cause yer a 16v WHORE! Seriously though, I highly doubt this guy is running 613 crank horsepower. Don't be fooled, these engines can produce some serious numbers, but they require serious work. I know that his numbers are fake simply by looking at the picture of his engine pay. I dont care how much work you dont in the head, you're not gonna generate 600 horsepower using the stock intake manifold.

To put things in perspective here is a picture of the Pizzo brothers VW engine that they used in theire dragster, setting the fastest 1/4 mil time for any watercooled VW. Their record stood for over 10 years and the engine developed approx. 500hp.

I think our Greek friend may have had one too many shots of Ouzo before he submitted that stats on his car. Malakas!

I completely agree with you, but that record IIRC was using gasoline. 613 hp is possible using alternative fuel, although even then it might be a stretch.

Rocket fuel or not, you still need a lot of air to generate that much power.

Unless he is on the bottle like a sonofabitch...

NitroMethane only requires an air fuel ration of 1.7:1 so you don't need more air.
