I'm the ultimate VW lover but now its time to get serious...

I'm looking to buy my first car (well...its been a while now) and i'm seriously looking at a TOYOTA CELICA GT...

I'm thinking about a 1992 (for the price as well as the fact that i love the 5th generation) and I wanna know if you guyz have any info about the car...

I THINK it has 135Hp and 145 Torque but i'm not sure...
I dont know how much it weighs...
I've never tryed the car so i dont know if its sporty to drive...
I dont know if the suspension is stiff or not...

Lets just say i dont know much and i'd really like some of your help...

The 5th gen celica is a fantastic looking car with decent handling and ok power. I've got a 90 GT-S and I'm fairly happy with it. Parts are expensive if they break and the car's rare so don't count on used parts.

1992-93 Celica GT and GT-S
5S-FE 2.2 I-4
DOHC EFI
135 @ 5400 hp
145 @ 4400 ft/lbs

I don't know anyone that ran a 1/4 with a stock 5th gen but I'd guess it would be in the 16's, but the car feels fairly fast because of the torque.

Things to look for when buying are the power steering hose (most get leaks after about 7 ot 8 years), rear suspension bushings, rust in the wheel wells, and sunroof problems. It is a fairly rliable car though all in all.

Dont' expect a huge aftermarket either, they are basically neglected by the big companies (except us, www.twmperformance.com

Hope this helps a little, I'm pretty beat so I can't think of any real stats right now.

i have a 1991 celica GT...
let me tell you , this car is fast ..well its fast enough with all the torque ..u feel it moving u know.......

the GT is faster then the GT-s , iv raced a gt-s at st-eustach and i beat it , i raced 2 of them....

1/4 is high 15sec
0-60 in about 8.2 sec i have a friend who did 7.8 with some cheap mods on...

this car can handle curvs really well , the ride is a bit hard (sport car) I love my ride , even tho its stock ,,, very rare ...nice interieur....2.2l engine r one of the best engines toyota ever made

only reason that you can beat gts with a gt is cauz the 2.0 is way less heavy than the damn gts, makes me wonder why you say after: 2.2l engine r one of the best engines toyota ever made

cauz if you have a 2.2l gt and beats 2.2l gts there's a serious problem with the other guys you raced with, it's the same damn car with different options like radio, power antenna and other things

Very clean, pas de bruits, tout fonctionne... A/C, cruise, 10 speakers etc etc etc
