My dad is looking for a second hand Audi A4. What year should be avoided, and which model should he go with. He's looking at a 2001 and up model.

2002 and up (new model looks better imo) and stay with the 1.8t engine quattro of course have it checked completely and if he could buy off the dealer they have a pretty good warranty u can buy.

u can find some good info on here too

is he into modding? i think an a4 2003 3.0 would suit him very well. avoid 2002 models and b5 a4's.

If he can get the 2002 and up. That's when Audi changed the design of the A4.

The reason why FASTAUDI is telling you to avoid 2002 is because that's the first year of the new generations.

no, he's not into modding. He was looking at the TSX, but I'm a VW-Audi fan, so I'm trying to convince him to go with an Audi. How are Audi's CVT trannies?

they are simply amazing, infinite gears. But remember that cvt's on a4's only offer the 1.8t engine and are non-quattro. Buying an audi that is non-quattro is not really an audi to me

The B5 are getting old and you'll be spendiing on repairs soon or later. If it's going to be a B5, then at least it should be 2000 and up.

between the 3.0 and the 1.8T, is there a difference in reliability, and fuel economy? How reliable is the quattro system? Is it expensive to repair?

The 3.0 is much more reliable. As long you have warrantee from Audi, you'll be fine. The quattro system is one of the best out there. Haven't seen or heard any issues with it.
