I just got back from Lafleur's....
IT was SICKKK...I've never seen so many cars!!!
It was like a mini car show but for free!!!!

Lots of people took pics! They're just still at Lafleurs so the pics will be up later. But it was an amazing night! Lots of cars! It was the biggest Lafleurs night I had ever seen. Can't wait for the summer!!:bigup:

Sorry but if the lot at Lafleur's is too small then we need to find an alternative meeting place, and NOT have someone pick and choose which cars are, and which aren't worthy of being able to park in the designated lot. it was quite cool for a second meet this year except for that ONE guy in particular with the modified (riced?) civic with 20 000 stickers, a Super Street sticker and the works. if you're on the board and reading this, dude, do NOT come back next week. we don't need people like you revvin the engine and burning our uppon your exit. go do that elsewhere.
aside from that, I left at 11:35 and there was still some people chatting it up in the lot.

In Pointe-Claire village by the water there are numerous large parking lots. Behind Clydes there is a huge one, were the boat ramp is, it would take a while for cops to notice considering how deep in it is, and you can say that you are going to Clydes and there was no parking in the front so you went around to the back.

You know ppl all we have to do is ask if we could us the lot at the train station. Hell it is not being used at night so I don’t see why they would mind. Hell if it is that much of a big deal I will call my self and find out. Cuz last night was gr8 and all but it was a lil hard getting in and out of the lot and hell I was there to see the cars and meet ppl. Could you just imagine going with your kids to get a damn hotdog and seeing the lot. Either way I will see what I can find out about the train station lot.

well there is one problem with moving to a bigger spot, there will be more room for ppl to drive fast and thats too dangerous around 500+ ppl standing around. We had that problem at MC last year, some dude in a mustang doing a 11second pass in the lot wasnt cool..... When its all cramped up like this atleast the speeds are low. We have to remember that this is the begining of the season and the crowds are bigger than normal, it will die down twards the middle of the summer.
oh, and about the train station, it's illegal gathering and tresspassing on private property after hours, i already found out the hard way.
good point on the speed. it is true. less space lower speeds. and i am sure that it die down soon. also ppl who are standing around should try to move a little when cars are trying to come or go.

Its gonna die down during the next couple weeks...it always does. I still think Lafleurs is the best place.
yea i like the location. it seems to work well for every1. so if it is going to die down a bit then i dont think that we even need to give it a second thought about looking for another place. just think about it, the owners at Lafleurs want us there and we all like it there, so all we have to do is try to keep it down and give no reason for the cops to show up. like NO smoke shows (i think you know who you are) and when we leave the lot there is no reason to take off down Sources (i think you know who you are) eather way we just have to watch out for each other so that we can keep going to Lafleurs for yrs to come

it was a great meet! except for the idiot in the rice civic with orange flames that started revving..........
there were a lot more cars than i expected and i don't think it's gonna die out, it's gonna get bigger since some don't even have their cars out/ready yet......
i think the place is great, maybe the WI people could tell everybody if there's any place to park the cars near lafleurs, especially the stock ones (myself including LOL) like there was at Julep...........if there isn't , i guess we'll have to make the best out of the space there is until a bigger spot is found.........
PIQUI had a idea about some trainyard or something? i don';t know the place......maybe it could be worth a seconf thought!

I think your missing the point though, thats part of the fun. Its obviously dumb to do it in the middle of the lot with tons of people around, but it someone wants to burn up their tires when leaving (after he/she's made some space from the crowds) than who cares. If the cops are around then the'll go for that guy. The only thing that can stop us from meeting there is if the Lafleurs owner gets pissed and tells us to leave. Also.... if i want to open up 1st and 2nd gear going down Sources when i leave, then thats what i want to do. Im taking the risk not you so dont be such a grouch.

I dunno if you guys saw him, he got there late around 10:30 or 10:45. This 50 year old guy came in a Red ZR-1 Vette, only 60,000KM *jawdrop* . Me loving the big V8's I talked to the guy for awhile, oh I almost forgot he had a Mullet :bigup: Anyways he was telling me that 4 years ago people use to be doing all kinds of crazy shit at LaFleurs, smoke shows, donuts, and they were not bothered, because they were older people, not young punks. Getting together with all the cars you see on the road everyday was pretty fun, only hope it's fun for the rest of the season. It shouldn't matter how anyone drives, as long as he/she is out of the way of innocent people (and out of the parking lot).

BOOM BOOM BOOM from, everywhere.. following by many engines revving.. waayyyyyyy to much crap yesterday!!! And by crap Im not talking about stock cars.. but about people disturbing our nice ambiance we had over last years... That was ****in too crowded.. where are comming from all those idiots? i thought the point of the meet was forevery 1 on mtl racing to meet up and check out all the cars and talk. if that is the case then i dont see why stock cars are such a problem. first off we all have to remember where we started out. we all had a stock car and had to deal with it till we could get the cash to fix it up. also we have to remember that we meet to get ideas and from there we are able to fix up our cars. so i find that what we could do is at least put the stock cars on 1 side and the other on a next side. hey its just an idea, now if it works thats a whole other story.

Heh I'm amazed at how the vets on this board feel the need to alienate people who haven't been involved with MR.com until recently. This kind of attitude is not only going to scare away potential people from joining MR.com, but its going to cause the current MR.com newbies to not want to get involved with board activites.

Just because all of you Vets have reached a certain point where you all have nice cars and you all ride together! You were all at one point in my shoes as well! Sure i dont have a modified car, or even a car for that matter, but i still share the same love for cars as anyone else! Everyone has to start somewhere. Brad never started with an NSX, and i'm sure Danny didnt start with a Type-R at 17. Maybe it was their first cars, but not at the age of 17.

I think the problem is not the cars that come, but the people and what they do........
i think anybody should be welcomed to the meets, whatever car they drive, even if by most people's standards is rice, or is stock or is whatever and it shouldn't be a problem to show the car to others.......
BUT
By doing that there is NO need to :
rev the engine, blast the music, do burnouts, light up all the 100 neons in/outside the car etc etc.......u can show a car even when the car is not running and the sound system is off.........since doing any of the above will atract cops and also create a bad atmosphere
if somebody has a very good sound system (where the speakers are loud and clear not 5 subwoofer that u don't hear any music besides the trunk shaking) and leaves it on louder to create an ambiance, ok, but at that point nobody else should.....1 system is enough, not 2, not 3, ****1****.......since if there's more, u can't understand anything anymore, u just hear a lot of noise which is what happened yesterday......

Lafleurs is not new and it has been like this long long before MontrealRacing even existed. I remember attending the lafleur's show in 1995. I didn't even have a liscence. I'm sure it was going on long before that, too.
Now before you get all pissed at me please understand what I'm saying. Lafleurs is what it is - a car show/gathering whatever. The MR gang is a new group who happens to have it's meets at the same time and place as the Lafleurs show. For people to be saying they don't want ricers and whoever to come and blast their system and rip around is dreaming. They were there first and it has been going on for the past 10 years with the exception of a short break 2 years ago when the Julep became popular.
If you guys want to have a MR meet where car-lovers can come and chill quietly and talk about cars then I'm all for it but Thursday is not really the day (in my opinion) since the car show is there.
I'm not dictating Lafleurs policy either. It's not for me to decide who goes there on what day. I'm just giving the facts because some people who may be new to the scene don't realize them.

I too have been coming since about 1996 or so. It was much different back then as well. Although times have changed, but regardless, some people havent!

There are 2 places that I can think about. First, the Scratch on Sources. The guy already has car shows on Wednesdays, and they are always trying to attract more people. so that could be a good place. Plus the parking lot is huge there, there would be more than enough room.
The other place I can think of, and we could look into that, is going back to MC. Not at the same place though. There's a Krispy Kreme opening there soon I think. Maybe we could ask the owner if he wants us there. I know in TO and all throughout the US, KK have meets on a regular basis, so if the owner accepts, we could go there.
Plus we'd get to eat Krispy Kreme doughnuts!!! ahhhhhhhhh....
That seems ok, but my dad lives right near the soon to be opened KK, and let me tell you, the parking lot does not seem bigger than LaFleurs!!!

krispy kreme's parking isnt big at all, and it's kinda separated from the rest of marche central, and other concern, not sure the other shops will want us to go in the rest of the parking

Sorry to bring back an old post, but i'm also in agreeance! Lafleaurs has been around for a long time. it will always stay!
And as for the person who said LeSkratch, well, as someone who helped out ther in THEIR tuesday car shows for the past two years, I can tell you that it aint going to happen. Their car shows are different, I was the one last year doing the advertising, and the people there WONT appreciate the burnouts and loud systems.
It may ba a big parking lot, but it's public prperty, and complaints wil be made! I'll be helping out and advertising again this year, but I dont think I'll push it as much on mr.com as I did last year, beacuse of recent events!

it's not so much underground. If anything it's more public. It's at Skratch west island, it's on Boul. Des Sources and Pierrefonds... Usually starts around 6pm, and depending on the conditions, it'll go till 9 or 10pm
