I've seen people ask the question for 40-50k and for 5k. So I am asking the same question for for 10-12k.

I need a truck because I have a dog and a boat and I cannot stand FWD anymore. I currently have a maxima and I miss my WRX so much in the winter it's not even funny.

I am looking for a SUV .... So Tribute, CRV, Escape, RAV4, VUE are not an option.

I tried looking for Pathfinders, QX4 and 4Runners but it's IMPOSSIBLE to find one in good shape and for the price I want to pay I can only find some with the 3.0L engine which apparently is weak and costs a lot in gaz.

I want something RELIABLE, COMFORTABLE AND POWERFUL. They are in order of priority..

Here is what I had in mind...

- Grand Cherokee Ltd
- Durango
- Trailblazer
- Envoy
- Yukon
- Blazer, Jimmy (I dont like the look)
- Explorer, Expedition (I'm not a big fan of the interior)

I want less then 140 000km and nothing older then 1998.

I always wanted a cherokee but I have people telling me left and right that they break all the time and they cost a fortune to fix.

How's the reliability of Chevy, GMC, Ford, Dodge, etc..

Thanks

Regular small Cherokee's are fun like hell too, and don't share all the troubles of the larger brethen. Personally I'd wouldn't hessitate in purchasing any of the regular big three offerings (Exploder,Blazer,Cherokee) based on replacement part prices, availability and low entry purchase costs. Though I would admit that Toyota does make a damn fine truck, your not going to find anything low km's/rust free for the same price as a domestic offering + operating/parts costs are generally going to be higher also.

i own a 2000 grand cherokee limited, paid 11k last summer

its clean, powerfull, and i doesnt had any trouble with it

buy this before a durango, the durango have cheap front axle, and cannot compare this powertrain with the jeep quadra drive

Nice! That's the kinda of answer I was looking for..

You say you didn't have any problem with it... Do you know if they owner before you had anything done to it?

What's the mileage on it?

What's the gaz mileage for the V8 ?

Do you like the car in general?

i bought this jeep in a used car garage, so i dont know about the previous owner

i bought it at 150k now at 163k

the gas mileage hehe you know, when you drive a V8 you have the power, and the gas that go with it:)

i do 12l/100 on highway and 16l/100 in city

the average mileage, like writen on the onboard computer, is about at 15-16 in the summer and 17-18 in the winter

i really like the truck its comfortable, all in leather, heated seat, the rear seat can be fold to have a big cargo area, and the awd system is excellent and with the dual rigid axle, its strong, versus independant front suspension on cheaper model, you know, a jeep is a jeep:)

the 4.7 liter is powerfull, enough to tow car or wathever you want, and i know the 4.7 is a good engine i had one in my previous dakota

the truck is great, but you need to out some gas in it, but when you want a V8 its the price, or you can get a rav4 or a crv with a 4 cylinder:p

the only thing i dont like, its that im falled in love with the new grand cherokee srt8, and so i have 200hp less that it, that make me sad:(

a grand cherokee 2000-2001-2002-2003 are cheap, brand new these truck are 50k and more, and now you can own one for 10-15k:) that the good side

and to tow a car nothing can beat a real pick up, my older dakota was better to tow a car than the jeep, the jeep is not as heavy as a big pick up, and the rear of the truck dance on the road with some curve

i bought a set of 17 inch chrome wheel from a later grand cherokee, i can wait to put them on it:)

so, its a good truck, cheap to buy, luxury, powerfull, but hard on gas and not adapted to tow heavy thing

the only thing that can make me sold my truck, is to have a luck on a srt8 or a commander

Thanks for the reply!

My boat is probably A LOT lighter then the car you are pulling so it shouldn't be a problem...

As for gaz.. I only do about 5 km a day so it's really not a problem. The only time I do a lot of mileage is when go fishing and I usually split the cost of the gaz with whoever is coming to fish with me :p

Thanks again for the reply!

Pathfinder (99.5-01) VS Cherokee (99-01)

Qu'en pensez-vous?
