hey guys does anyone know the lifespan of Tokico gas shocks ??? i'm running with them with H&R sport springs and all i hear is squeaking from my front end - they are not even 2 years old and i don't drive the car in the winter -- can they be finished ??
or could it be something else ???

any info is much appreciated

what kind of squeking ? Are you sure it's the shocks ? or coils ?
in any case ... if you can, remove the wheels, dis-assemble your brake and hose down the whole area - shocks- coils - brakes - ball joints - axle boots - tables ( if you have) ... may just be dust or dirt ... our roads are still very dusty ... It may help ...

if it still does make noise, take apart the shock and test it with the other front shock ( swap them ) to see if it's the shock

tokico are not the best, but better then stock ... certain peps equipped with tokico's I know of were very satified with them ...

First off the squeek can be your bushings so dont get all scared right now! I would take everything apart and relube it though!

As well you say that you did not drive the car in winter but did you have your car up on jack stands or just left the car like that all winter long? Casue i know that shocks need to be moved around now and then and its not good to have em in the smae position for months on end! I mean basically if your car sint on jsckstands they have been compressed for months with out letting them move!

As well if ya read on tokicos site they say there not good for drops! They basically say extreem drops but thoes shocks are made for springs like h&r oe springs not sport or race lines!

then all winter your shoks were on the max open? Think about it insted of being too compressed they were in a position that they wetre designed only to be in during fractions of seconds! Thats the bad part about winter time...never know how to store your damn car!

even at that you would have to come in and bounce the car around about 1-2 times a week to keep the shokcs good! they were made to be a moving mechanical part not to be stationary! the builders never had a sationary time of a couple of months when designing the shocks so there not made to just be still for that long!

that my friend is a higlly debated question! The best one to date that has answered this is the responce of "well your car isnt goingo to be moving all winter right! So take off the springs and shocks and save yoruself the hasle of buying new ones!"

I know that is a pain in the ass and one hella job but its worth it to keep em in good shape! If not take em off at least go and bounce em around and if ya can drive it a little....but we all know that isnt possible in our winters!

thanks dude - you helped me alot - and by any chance if i do have to change my shocks which do you recommend - anybody can give me their suggestions please -- brand and type ( adj. or non adj.)

you should turn your engine over and keep the batteriy alive also when you store your car.... rev the engine and drive it around the block. Some winter days in not so bad.... then you can just hose the car down and ket all the salt off it.
