SUBJECT: 2001 Civic EX Coupe suspension failiure

Hello,
I bought a used 2001 Civic EX (IHGEM21981L088977) with 27 000 milles. This car had already gotten 2 new front struts when I purchased it and they were leaking already. I had 2 new ones installed and THEY ARE LEAKING AGAIN AT 29 500 milles!. Please note that this is an American car and I live in Canada, therefore you will not respect the original warranty on this vehicule. This time all four struts are leaking, the front ones really badly. I would like to know if Honda is willing to act on this matter, how can you help me? If I need to replace these struts to my own expense I will, but I will never buy a Honda product again and will strongly advertise this problem on 7th generation civics. I owned other Honda cars and never had a complaint, but this one, due to it’s suspension only, made me an extremely unsatisfied Honda customer. Please reply shortly, this matter needs to be resolved quickly.

Thank You, regards,

Tell me what you think, if other owners are experiencing this problem, you should do the same so Honda can wake up! This is really ****ed...

 Thanx man...

Hahah, (i know it's not funny)

I was at a Honda dealer amout a month ago. A custome was complaining about his 2001 Civic suspension. The guy had already replaced the struts under the honda recall. He still wasn't satisfied with how the rear end handled. The guy at the counter said that Honda would not do anything for that. He told the customer that Honda redesigned some of the parts for 2003 (again) and the only thing he could do if take back his 2001 model and sell him a 2003....

I had the same problem, exept I was in California with my Canadian Integra. The dealership called Acura Canada and they did not want to cover anything, so of course it came out of my own pocket. What did I do!!!, I changed my struts and added adjustable coils. I was lucky that I found a garage that did this all for me for under 150$.

So you might want to consider doing the same thing, stop running after them (HONDA) if your car is not new, they will not help you.

Now my car is dropped and rides very well, no thanks to HONDA, ACURA CANADA

:dunno:

damn your car is stock height on stok springs and all and it still elaks bad! The only thing i can say is that you prob take the corners too ahrd! Thoes struts arent made for hard cornering all the time! its not to be mean but the civic isnt really a sports car its more of a family sedan! Yes the sir and si's should be a little bit better but the civic it self is supose to be a fun little car and not a sports car! I love honda and I love there cars but lets just get real stock suspencion was made for every day driving...not quebec road driving!

:dunno:

Yup no shocks are out! Only Koni and theyre only inserts not even damper adjustable at least they have a life time warranty. I'm at 33,000km on my 2k1 civic and my shocks are leaking so since it's under warranty I went to the dealer and they're on back order for a month! I could care less cuz I'm trading my car cuz I crashed it a while back but I was gonna invest in Tein SS coilovers true aka full coilovers. Tokico is suppose to come out with shocks but they have been delayed just like every other product that suppose to come out for 7thgen civics.

lots of delays......lots of complaints....looks like honda pounded out a car that was not ready and needed somethinf to compeete with the focus!:(

I had an rsx type S last year and the suspension was very fragile... I went over a little pot hole and the whole assembly had to be changed...my personal mechanic told me that the parts are very cheap and fragile but helps when it comes to handling cause they are light weight. What everyone needs to remember is that all Hondas/Acuras are made the same. The cars might look different but every piece is made the same way from the NSX all the way to civics. That is the same reason why I am starttng to like BMW now. !

Shocks

Man I really want to hear more about this from you! I have never heard of this and I just want to know what you mean by all the aprts are made the same! LOL you could say that about n-e thing be it stock or after market! all aprts are made the same! they all use the same basic ways of shaping and moldin so I dont see what you mean by you like bmw more???

Why cause Acura is sold as a luxury car you mean it should be different than honda parts......last time I checked in its origin there is no such thing as "Acura"...or an "RSX" there is however the 4th gen "Honda" Integra!!!!
