I am looking at a 2000-2001 2.slow and I thought they would around 4-5k. I am dead wrong some are still selling with upwards of 10k WTF? You can buy a new City Golf for 15k...

Then buy a citi golf for 15k and stop complaining hehe
Anyway 2.SLow mk4s are dangerous, very risky to fall asleep while driving ;)

people saling it over 10k are not aware yet of the city models I guess, or they pretend not to be aware of them...

The City screwed up the resale of Golf/Jetta's.

The buyers try to lowball because they are under the impression that MK4 2.0's should be the bargain of the century because of the "cheap" City Golf.

The MK4 2.0 sellers think the City has maintained the value of their cars because:

The MK4 is still a new model
The City has long waiting lists
High interest rates
City Golf equipped like a Golf GLS costs 19 900$ + tax
City Jetta equipped like a Jetta GLS costs 21 200$ + tax

yup due to the high demande people are still asking alot for their cars

I sold my beater 2.0 GL 2000 about 18 months ago for 7,000$, with 80,000 original KM.

But it's true that their price is kinda high right now.

I get the feeling that everyone came to see my Golf is expecting me to negociate down to 5000$, at the same time the dealers are selling 01 Golf GL's for 12000$:dunno:

wow

I think that VW intentionally ****ed all it's used car program for X reason. I would of managed to bring over an even cheaper version of the new rabbitt.. put in a 1.6 liter or what not. Our family has had a 2003 Jetta 5 spd manual and I really started to hate that POS thowards the end.. revs are high, the car consumed alot of gas an oil.. None the less the lease ended and we gladly returned the car.

On a brighter side a used 1.8T Golf or Jetta 2003 and up would be a good deal, depending on your budget.
