Muffler Ticket

So.......i was on my way home and i got a muffler..ticket

now correct me if i am wrong BUT DONT U HAVE TO CHECK IT......No stick
dint even look under the car

said my sound is annoying and it shakes in the back.......i know it shakes a lil suz of the cam.......but anyways ....im contesting because he didnt even test it.......
 
A buddy of mine got a ticket for his exhaust not too long ago.. if its rly loud its good enough of an excuse to issue a ticket.. usually they use a stick or wtv to check if you have a straight pipe
 
Of course it's going to shake. The entire exhaust is hanging on rubber mounts!!! It's not bolted to the car anywhere!!! They're clowns!!
 
a little off topic but im planning myself to get a bigger sport muffler on my mx3 and just wondering what are the limitations for the muffler from the "pigs" side?
all i know is that the whole system can not be staight piped but are there any other criteria like muffler tip diameter or a certain sound DB limitation? thanks!


yeah and dont let the pig win fo sho - i once got stopped cuz i was following him in trafic when his lights were on ( just to go faster) we were going at about 50 kmph on aut40 (way below the speed limit)- so he forgot about his urgency, stopped and bitched at me for 10 mins.
 
That sucks Marco. Damn I hate cops too! Your exhaust is a bit loud, but nowhere near as loud as most Harley's.

The cop was probably just having a bad day. He woke up that morning and realized that his job wasn't what he was hoping it was going to be. Damn CSI giving them false dreams.

i think you need to check out the SAAQ website lol. They tell you how to modify your car legally and i'm sure you'll dind that following a police car with his sirens on in order to beat the traffic is against the law. :bigup:

+1 i passed saaq inspection 100% with a pure fartcan......
then replaced it with a corrado vr6 muffler wich is as much loud but less apparent :bigup: :run:
 
The stick.. the stick.. screw the stick, that "test" is meant for harleys, not cars. Contest that crap and you will get off it.
 
A bunch of my friends have gotten noise pollution tickets for their exhaust, and never been able to get out of it. Quebec laws are so vague and cops get to do whatever they want. Now if only they'd study US laws and actually make a specific set of rules relating to any car modding, it'd be better for the entire community.

Best experience relating to this: I have NY plates, but live here. I got pulled over in my previous car (Eclipse) because of my exhaust, and the cop actually told me: "I hate that your exhaust is so loud and I can't even give you a ticket because of your plates. I see you every single week. I'm gonna contact customs to see how often you actually go back, and if I find out that you don't, I will (this is what it meant, but he worded it differently) make your life living hell."

Never heard from him again. Hah.
