So do the skylines need the third brake light or not...:dunno: My french is not good, i couldn't understand some of the french threads.

Is there ne thing else that jdm cars need... so that the cops don't get a hardon when they see us.

I just finished putting led lights in my quarter panels... and got federal to put a legal muffler... is there nething else cops looking for. cos i am tired of paying tickets, i have payed $600 for this shit. thanks in advance..

p.s. does n e one know the price for a rb36 rebuild with new gaskets, seal and t-belt/wp

If the car was built after Jan 1st 1987, you have to have one.

translation: Other than the lights required in article 215, any tourism vehicule other than a bike built after January 1st 1987 must have a red braking light located on the rear, on the central vertical axis of the vehicule, at the same height or higher than the braking lights required in paragraph 4 of article 215.

By that paragraph, yes, you need one....

Thanks alot ffracer, i will get on it immediately. Is it ok on the trunk/spoiler or does it have to be on the top/bottom of rear window.

Is there n e thing else on the skyline,, that the D.O.T. and the police are trying to correct... I 'd like to get it out of the way, rather than pay the consequences.

I also have a question....Why doesn't the D.O.T. correspond with the S.A.A.Q. and check these things at the S.A.A.Q. inspections and advise the customer, instead of the customer getting pulled many times?

I'd like to thank everyone who replied and thanks for replying in english, it helped alot. You guys are great.

read the article, it has to be at the same level or higher than your original braking lights. So on the top of the trunk, on or in your spoiler, or in the back glass if it's visible despite the spoiler. Most people juste use twin tape to fix a red LED bar wired to your brake lights on top of the back glass, it's clean and doesn't show too much if well done.

Rear side reflectors/parking lights, skylines don't have them. You need to put some reflecting stripes and a LED or a standard car reflector/parking light, and make 'em light up. When to make 'em light up? i'm waiting for the answer from FFracer.

Because we're in Quebec, and you have 3 levels of jurisdiction, all stepping one over another. TC says 15 y-o cars can come to canada no problem. SAAQ says hey hold on guys they need to conform at the inspection even though 80% of our inspection centers take bribes. Cops say HOLY MOTHER OF JESUS!!! LET'S GET 'EM BOYS!!!

my pleasure.

Reflective tape with a L.E.D.s will that pass. Cos i already drilled 3 holes on either side and have installed the L.E.D.s

according to the SAAQ, they have to be visible from 150 meters...but cops won't bother walking all the way....if you have reflective tape and leds, most likely they won't give you a ticket.

I haven't taken mine out for the season yet because of all this. From what i understand, I need the third brake light, side reflector/lights, DOT headlights and daytime running lights...is this right?

Its funny because I have had my skyline for 4 years in quebec now, and for the past 4 years I have never received a ticket in my car for ANYTHING, especially these things (exhaust included). But now, if I take the car out I know i will be handed a few tickets in one stop.

it`s almost time to rebuild the turcot interchange , so .. guess who pays for it .. ALL of us ... many times over , income tax , sales tax , JDM tax .. etc :)

You need side markers (light/reflector), third brake like and DRLs.

DOT headlights are not needed because it is not written in the CSR which is the only legal binding document.

If your headlights are not SAE, DOT or E then you can get a ticket because your car is not legal and would not pass the inspection. If you're lucky you will only be sent to inspection, which is not likely to happen...

You are right that it's not written in the CSR, but in order to get your car approved at inspection then you must have them.

No you dont, if it's not written in the law, you don't need them.

My Tempo doesn't have them and i passed inspection no problem when I brought it in from Ontario.

My 240SX doesn't have them and I passed the inspection no problem when I brought it in from Ontario.

It's just hearsay and has no legal binding.

I dont know 100% if what I'm saying is right, but my view is:

From what I understand is for your car to pass inspection, your car must respect those points...if your car (logik23) passed with non-DOT lights that means they didn't do their job correctly.

now if a cop intercepts you and notices that your car doesn't have these DOT lights that you need to pass the inspection, then from his point of view your car is not supposed to be on the road, and logically you would have to be sent back to inspection (unless he already has it down in your records that it's not your first warning)...but they have the right to ticket you instead which is not wrong also because your car is not really legal. You can blame the inspection center for not doing their job, but you also have to blame yourself for not double checking that it got done right since you do have access to these papers that state what your car needs to have to be legal.
