Caught with radar detector = ???

Hello everyone,

I was simply wondering what kind of trouble would i get into if i get caught using a radar detector in Quebec? Also what are the chances i get caught?

P.S. yes i have one and occasionally use it:D
 
They confiscate it for starters if you get caught. And Im pretty sure there is something in the CSR that makes it illegal to have it aboard because you might screw the cops over for once, they have this one covered. A trick I heard about I dont know if it works but you could try it if you want to get a detector. Buy a prepaid fedex envelope and adress it to your house or your buddies house or something, and if you get caught you just chuck it in the envelope and seal it. Aparently its a "federal offence" to open peoples mail. A few police have said that they will break that law with "probable" cause, bascially just disregarding the law as usual. But it could be a way out where they isnt usually.

The HSC gives you the opportunity to search anything in the close proximity of the driver of the vehicle without a warrent... including bags, glove compartement, boxes and pacages.

Even if I would need a warrent, it would take just a few minutes if not a few short hours to get one. So the pacage would be siezed till I get the warrent and you would get the consequences anyways.

A quoi ca sert un detecteur de radar? Au lieu d'avoir peur d'avoir un ticket de vitesse tu a peur d'avoir un ticket de detecteur de radar??

not true. its saved me from a ticket on many occasions. when i hear it beeping, i unplug it right away, and knock on would ive never had a problem and been well aware of the upcoming speed trap. Now with the increase of fines and points, i will be using it more often.
I just wanted to see if anyone here actually knew what would happen if worse case scenario i get caught! ff racer care to fill me in?

Top of my head. Its $600 fine. Plus they take it away.

J'ai deja eu ca.
C'est tellement pas fiable.
Ca sonne tout le temps pour rien.
A force d'avoir des petites touche tu viens qu'a pas en tenir compte.
Le seul temps que ca marche vraiment c'est quand le policier est la assis dans son char le radar a on.
Un policier qui fait du radar pour de vrai va se mettre sur le stand-by. Tu detect pas ca. et quand il juge que ta vitesse est élevé, il mets la switch a on.
Il optiens une lecture instantanément, ton détecteur lui allume en malade, toi tu panique et embarque debout sur les freins, le policier te voit breaker en malade et tu as 2 tickets au lieu de un.
Et le laser encore plus difficile a detecter. Ton detecteur pour le detecter doit etre illuminé par le laser du policier. donc quand tu le detect c'est parcque que tu viens te te faire zapper.

Enough of the rants, bottom line is YOU DO NOT HAVE THE RIGHT TO USE A RADAR DETECTOR TO SEE IF THE POLICE ARE WATCHING YOU in quebec.

You lost all your rights when you let the provincial goverment stomp all over you and pretty much everyone else in quebec for the past 15 years.

like i said above, your best bet is to try and become buddy buddy with the cop, like scarface suggests! After all, police are only human and usually give their friends breaks:squintfin talk about justice!
