154$ Ticket for Front tinted windows? BUT I CAN KEEP THEM ON?

I just received a 154$ ticket saying my front window tints are illegal.

I have been parked beside policer officers for the past year, and driven past them with no problems.

Tonight a police officer parked at the corner wacthing me while i waited for a green light pulled me over asked for license registration and to raise my driver side window.

He said i have illegal front tints, put a light meter on it said it was illegal and wrote me a ticket.

He told me i have 30 days to pay or contest.

When he gave me the ticket and told me to pay or contest i asked "Well this means i have to remove my tints now??"

he replied

"No" I said what do you mean no? I'm getting a ticket.

he replied

"You can continue to pay tickets if you get them"

And then i said in French to him ( cause i couldn;t quite beleive what he just said)

'Mais, mes fenetre son illegal?'

And he said yes in front they are illegal the back they are OK.


What recourse do i have?? Please offer me advice.

Is there a Garage i can go to and have the tints measured to see if they are LEGAL?

My car is beautifull, i am not a criminal i don't bother people or drive down the highway like a 18 year old in his civic hatchback with a superwing on the back.

Why they decided to harasss me tonight, a little over a year i purchased my car is beyond me.

Which i think he really meant (Not every cop is bad like me.) As i said i have been by policer officers countless times and have NEVER been harassed for my windows.
 
Not much you can do except criticize the wiser men that create the laws and the idiots that enforce them.

The only way is to do like they did in California with the speed traps. Reunite and sue the government. hahaha

Le client a toujours raison. Surtout quand il paie ton salaire en plus du ticket! :bigup:

you seriously consider that harassment?? lol

pay the ticket, get your windows fixed, and that's it.

if they are legal, contest and go prove it in court.
 
why would you want to go to a garage if he alreayd put a light meter on it anyways...?

and when he said no you dont have to change them, he said it because you are not obliged to remove them, but if you keep getting stopped for your windows it's your problem.

Like i said for over a year not 1 police officer has bothered me about my windows. Many times i was in full view of them, parked beside them etc....

So basically it's up to the police officer.
If he has nothing better to do, no real crime to fight then he can brighten up his dull day by giving you a ticket for tinted windows.

My 61 year old mother has tinted windows darker than mine and has yet to be bothered about them. And she has had her vehicle for over 6 years.

Beautiful city.

I dont understand what you are arguing about...it's written black on white how much tint you are allowed, and you exceeded that amount. If you didn't get any tickets it's because you got lucky or they just werent paying attention to them.

as for where you can get it checked out I dont know, maybe someone else can help you on that, but if the cop already checked it your just wasting your time...unless you are really lucky and his machine wasn't good....

You are wasting your time and money trying to contest that. There's nothing you can do about it.
 
1- Not all police officers have the Tint Meter

2- Not all officers are trained to use the tint meter

3- It's not because you havent been pulled over in more than a year that the windows are legal

4- Like the officer said, you can keep the windows if you want... but make sure you have the budget for the tickets.

^^ Hehe, didn't the place you tint your window told you it was illegal to do it that way? Or you bought it use? or you said so what?

You always have to choose the tint darkness (if you went do it).
 
Get over yourself. The fact other people also have illegal tints doesnt make it okay for you to break the law. If anything you should consider yourself lucky this is the first time you got pulled over.

Take em off and consider this a lesson learned or keep em on and risk getting tickets at any time.
I guess it's up to you how much time and money you're willing to waste to have darker tints on a car.

He couldn't focus his effort and training on catching the crack dealer down the street? Or taking care of the man that beats his wife....

I've had one speeding ticket in the past 5 years, and the Police Officer (SQ) had NOTHING to say about my tints.

Nor did the RCMP at the checkpoint i got pulled over at for verification.

It's these little city cops with no real crime to fight, nothing better to do then harass law abiding tax paying citizens. Trying to meet a quota.

Concentrate my tax dollars on enforcing laws that protect people, not harass them for minor things such as window tints.

Enough said. FF Racer put it pretty clearly.

Apparently the last 95 officers to pass by me, look at me and smile had no issues with my tints.

I have zero faith and zero trust in our police officers. Power hungry Ego tripping criminals hiding behind badges.

Like i said IF IT WAS TRULY ILLEGAL AND A DANGER TO OTHERS WE WOULD BE FORCED TO REMOVE THEM.

If they posed a danger to my visibility as stated in:

"...being equipped with windows that are not in conformity to standards prescribed by regulation, SET UP TO ENSURE GOOD VISIBILITY FOR THE DRIVER..."

The fact we can keep them on shows it's simply a way for the police to cut corners and steal our hard earned money.

i woulda pay for tickets, and not cry about inspection

aftermarket tints are illegal, you should know this, dont complain..
 
Le seul moyen de ''contournement'' pour ce reglement que j'ai vu qui fonctionnait:

-Tes 2 vitres avants tu les teintes toi meme (sa prend 4 biere pis environ 15$ de matériel).
-Tu les teintes la teinte que tu veux.
-SI tu te fais arrêter, tu offre au policier de les retirés sur le champs pour éviter une contravention.

2/2 de réussite et la sa fait 2 ans pas de probleme. J'ai entendu plusieurs histoire dans les meets a Sherbrooke comme dequoi la pluspart des policiers font l'offre de les retirés immédiatement (arraché la pellicule) au lieu de recevoir un ticket.


J'dis pas que c'est correct ou encore 100% de réussite, parcontre au inconditionnelle des vitres ultra teinté, c'est une facon de s'en sauvé sans trop payer.

You can't keep them on, and you weren't told otherwise. He said if you choose to keep them on, be prepared to pay the tickets.

That's like saying you can keep speeding because all they do is give you tickets all the time but don't actually break your legs or something.

It is illegal, the law is very clear, and if you keep them on, they will ticket you. Would you have preferred it being a major defect for which they would have towed your car ?

if ALL cops would do like you guys say and go fight real crime, then that means fu(k the CSR and let everyone do what they want?

I still dont see why your bitching about it when you are 100% in the wrong...lol
