I got a ticket and contested it. I might show up soon to court......It was a snow day and snowing hard. The snowplows plowed the entrances to all the apartments. I had no way of parking my car in the apartment parking because all of the entrances were blocked. I had to get my school bag in my apartment so I put the hazard lights and ran up to go get my bag. 5 minutes later i come back to find my car with a ticket of 40$. I know this is nothing but I had nowhere to put the car, the parkings were blocked and my car isnt 4x4. I had no choice and had to leave it on the streets for about 3-5 minutes. I took pictures of the entrance and how the whole parking had about 2 feet of snow in it. What are the chances of winning this??

even though the entrance was blocked, I find it hard to believe you could have put your car elsewhere while you went in to get your bag. you just got unlucky, and for what it's worth, pay the 40$ lol

yup I cant drive into anyones drive ways and it was illegal to park on the street from 9am to 11 or something. It was illegal to park everywhere in the city from that time to that time. Yea I know 40 isnt that much lol

You had your hazzards on? Aren't they suppose to give you a grace period of like 10-15 minutes? Anyways, if the hazzards were on and it was actually 5 minutes, I think you should fight it.

There is no "official" grace period for hazzards, it always depend on the situation. Most of the time I wait a little, even start up the flashing lights for a few seconds so the driver can see me.

Thing is, there's no way to know since when the car's there.

Drive around the block and come back 5 minutes later, if he's still there then worry about giving him a ticket. It's not like you have a million things to do.

:dunno:
