Got an exhaust ticket + 48 hour inspection! Need help fast!

Can they even send a car with an exhaust for inspection? I always thought that a muffler was a minor infraction. This is ridiculous. The inspection notice says:

TUYEAU D'ECHAPPEMENT BRUYANT ET MODIFIE, PAS DE RESONNATEUR, 2 TUBES 67 CM DE PROFONDEUR AU 0

It's really funny because the car doesn't have a resonator from the factory, lol. Is there anything I can do about this or do I have to go for an inspection? If I do, I don't have time to bring the car in 48 hrs. Can I show up and make an appointment for some other time?

do not go to the inspection you will get a ticket by the mail contest it and you will win 100% sure this has happened to me 4 years back with my 240sx *tu* ... when i went to court it took me 5 min. to win .... for inspection hes gonne need a MAJOR defect or multiple 4-5 minor defects!

inspection for being straight pipe is NOT a valid reason...screw what FFracer says i was in your situation and WON hands down ... ask Prelude83 i'm sure he can confirm this..... *tu*
 
Call the inspection center and see if they can do something for you.

I wouldn't trust someone who seems so sure about what he's saying yet he ends by saying "ask Prelude83 i'm sure he can confirm this"

PS: I guess you start work at 8 am also...lol
 
the guy at the inspection center doesn't give a shit. He says they will do a full inspection. Besides, even if I don't go, after 48 hrs they can tow the car if they see me again and I'll get more shit. Unbeleivable.

We all know how credible a guy who drives a Skyline over 200km/h on highway 30 is (bragging about it in another thread). If we could filter all the bad infos this forum has, we would be left with a few threads.

That's not the point here...he probably just mentionned it in another thread so that's why he's saying it. But no need to start a case on that.

But wait factory with no resonator? whats the model?

but i were you, i would contest & put a universal resonator & change the muffler.....in the mean time you have time to think about wht u really want to do....because now when they type your plate they prolly have the word MUFFLER\RESONATOR in the computer...

I had NO muffler on my old GTI 2 yrs ago, only the resonator..i was too poor
to get a new muffler...(not that i have money now)...finally after a few months i got pulled over & got
a 48hr,,NO INSPECTION FOR THAT MAN...& ITS PROLLY WORSE DRIVING WITH
NO MUFFLER THAN NO RESONATOR.

yes I am the one who told you that, simply because sometimes when you have appointments, you can call places and tell them you would need to reschedule. But if they dont do it for anyone at all, then they wont do an exception for you.
 
Well guys, I went for the inspection today with my exhaust the way it was (2.5" piping, high flow cat, magnaflow with 2 tips) and almost passed. I need to do the following:

*Tie wrap the oil pressure sensor wire, lol
*Replace a light bulb, oops
*Replace drivers side rear bearing

LOL!!! I had a nice little 92 Golf for a month and a half. When I bought it the muffler was in the trunk. I bought a muffler and then I realised the whole line was shot. Sure enough, it just broke off one night. I drove with no line after the cat for 3 weeks!!!! Never even got a second look from the police and let me tell you , I drove by a lot of them, was behind them, ahead, next.... Drive a shitbox, no troubles.

Man... good thing you got an inspection, you were putting everyone in danger with those problems...

How do you sleep at night thinking you might have killed someone with a dangerously misplaced oil pressure sensor wire :run:

But seriously I don't know why you would get an inspection for loud exhaust when everyone knows they dont evaluate that aspect at all...
