Question about modifing exhaust/engine..

alright for shits n giggles I was trying to figure out a way to avoid getting a ticket If I ever plan on modding my car...

say for example, I take the engine out of a 1993 corvette.. wich I already have, put it in my intrigue(i know it'll take a ****load of work) and then go and buy an original stock exhaust system from a 1993 corvette... would that still be illegal because it's not the same as the intrigue? I mean... Technically the body is an intrigue, but the entire performance side of the car IS a corvette ideally?

kinda made me wonder how that would work... I'd assume it's still illegal because the quebec justice system is just completely ignorant when it comes to this exhaust law.. but i thought It would be fun to discuss..
 
That would be very hard to loose in court.
What would be very hard also is passing inspection if you should have to slightly modify the chassis to fit this mounster of an engine.
 
ok lets take a better example ....

we take a 1992 civic and drop a 2001 integra type R motor in it ....

a 01 integra his free flow ....

now would it be legal to take the exhaust from the type R on the civic
 
01 Integra Type R featured An improved stainless steel exhaust collector with more gentle merge angles, a change to a larger, consistent piping diameter, flared internal piping in the muffler allowed easier exit of gases.

a 93 LT1 isn't big at all actually it's a small block. It would easily fit in an intrigue.

there would be no modifying of the chassis, I'd probably have to have a new floor panel put in to fit a 6spd transmission. shit there's a guy that converted an integra from LHD to RHD on this board, I highly doubt a simple engine swap would be that hard to pass if done properly.

now the real big deal here is converting a ****ing car from FWD to RWD, I hear that shit is expensive as all ****ing hell..

I actually wouldn't mind someone posting or PMing me what exactly would need to be done in order for me to do this swap, just so I can get an ideal price range so I can start saving up.. pretty sure I could save between 8-15k by next summer depending on my spending habits and how bad I want this done. I'd pretty much need to spend the cash on labour/transmission/whatever else I need..
 
Ok if you think it fits maybe it dose.
So installing OEM Corvette exhaust on the car would be something very convincing to a judge. Youd respect the oem caracteristics of the exhaust that fits on that engine.

Youd' still could get a ticket, and have to fight it in court. This is not something you see every day a swap like that.

Is the intrigue Front wheel drive?

Mais je serais curieux de savoir ce que ca donne de faire un swap moteur mazda speed 3 dans un mazda 3. Je suis certain ca passerais en court.
 
Avec preuve, documets et photo je suis pret a faire le test. Qui veut me fournir un Mazda 3 et un moteur de MAzda speed 3??
J'assume le ticket et les frais de court si je perd.

yeah it is FWD, I mean overall I think the car is very under-rated, especially in this community, a lot of old people drive them, doesn't mean they're a bad car :p It's done it's deed for me in the last year, gets me from point a to point b, it's a roomy car, I'm always designated driver so It helps being a mid-sized sedan. plus its pretty quick, I was damn surprised actually how much accel that car has for how big it is.

but as for going back on topic, if anyone could give me an idea as to how much that swap would cost me i'd appreciate it. I kinda estimated it at about 5-10k depending how much labour is involved. Especially if i decide to convert it to RWD.
 
You're better off buying an old Camaro and swapping in a 350 crate engine from GM performance. It'll be tons cheaper than converting your Intrigue to a 350 or LT1 small block.
