I live in the west island and last thursday i received what i thought was the dumbst ticket ever.

As i was merging on the highway, i noticed that 2 SQ cars had pulled someone over on the onramp, so i keep to the left in order to avoid any accident. When i am just about to pass the two police cars and merge onto the highway, an 18 wheeler speeds by me cutting me off. My reaction to the situation was to honk at him to let him know that i was there. Sure enough The SQ chases after me and stops me jut before the next exit.

The first police officer comes up to my window with a ****in dirty look on his face like i just ****ed his wife, and he asks me in french why i honked, right after i give him my drivers liscence. IO respond to him in english and explain myself, he didnt listen to a ****in word i said, then went on to ask me don't i speak french and i responded i do peak french but i am much more comfortable in english. 20 minutes later he gives me a ticket for HONKING WITHOUT A VALID REASON!

if the 18 wheeler was speeding by you and cut you off, it was pretty worthless to honk since he already passed you...I dont believe you wanted him to know you were there but more you were pissed off and wanted to honk at him...

my friend contested a ticket once cause he honked at a cop who wasn't advancing at a red light because he was talking to another cop beside him......he lost.

lol, ur not allowed to honk. good one

Most probably the truck driver did not notice him. Honking at him tells him to be carefull. I once cut off a car real bad, I just did not see him, I would not have known I cut him off if he had not honked. It made me be more attentive, because i was distracted.

Pardon?

Why didn't you explain yourself in french then ? Police officers aren't required to be billingual, he probably didn't understand a thing you said.

You could have avoided your ticket. He probably thought you honked at them.

Police officers arent required to speak english?

I thought we live in BILINGUAL country?

SQ is a provincial police. The OPP doesn't speak a word of french either.

generalizing is quite immature.
who told you they dont speak french? have you been pulled over by the OPP? I've been dealing with bilingual cops for YEARS because they have no choice, around here if you get a pure french cop , you pretty much have the upper hand because in hudson everyone is english and they just dont bother giving tickets to the people that they cant understand.

shit even my hard headed ass started to learn the language, the pigs that are getting paid by our taxes that refuse to speak canada's language should just be fired for incompitence. just as pathetic as seperatists or flq supporters.
