Exhaust Ticket - Back to stock then contest?

Hey guys I need your help.

My friend got pulled over for his exhaust.

137$ for an illegal muffler.

My question is, if I put back his stock muffler and then he goes to court showing what he has on and he only had a tip, would that work?

I doubt it, they usually take pictures and take notes of the exhaust. Try it if you want but lying in court is never a good thing to do.

My question is, if we put back the stock one. Could that revert the ticket, cause the officer didn't take any pictures nothing.

He just sticked the "Broche" in and wrote him a ticket.
 
That would be lying in court.
I would not recommend that. Take it like a man and pay or try and win by doing your homework and establish a reasonable doubt.

Do you have the "Divulgation de la preuve"?
 
n'importe quoi, en plus il a fait le test de la broche donc il a pris des notes sur ton système d'échappement. Le juge n'avalera jamais sa.
 
Le test dla broche...ça fait déjà pas sérieux comme test, la loi est pas basé sur le niveau sonore??
Je demande ça parce que j'ai un muffler "free flow"..avec le catalyser d'origine. Mais le niveau sonore est semblable au stock à l'oreille, car j'ai plusieurs résonateurs sur la ligne. Pourquoi les policiers continuent à faire le test de la broche plutôt que s'équipper de "décibelmètre"? ..vraiment pas certain que ce mot existe ;)

The court only cares about the state of the car at the moment of arrest, not whatever you did to it afterwards. If you go to court and say you had a stock muffler on, you are lying, and I don't see how you can seriously tell him he's right to lie in court.

Bad things happen if you lie in court and they catch you.
 
ppl lie in court all the time ... and dont get caught and usually the cop is supposed to give u a warning if its the first time

No, the cop is supposed to give you a ticket all the time. Warnings are purely discretionary. FFracer says it all the time, he gives tickets to modifications, he gives warnings to defects. The SPVM has been told not to give out warnings for exhausts.

If the guys goes to court and lies, that's perjury, especially if they have proof that he switched exhausts, basically, the cop took measurements, the brooch, and a detailled description. He's going to stand there and say the cop is lying and he has had his stock exhaust on all the time. That's a serious offense and the court won't buy it.

Maybe you should go back to off-topic and leave this section to more knowledgeable folk, your advice has been really bad in this thread. :dunno:

never gave advice . just my sutpid 3 cents. u put a muffler on ur car expect a ticket , dont complain on mr for ur own actions
 
put the stock one on. but then make it look like it's aftermarket. put the biggest chrome tip on it so that you can create a reasonable doubt that the officer gave you a ticket for what he THOUGHT was aftermarket based on looks.

all you need is reasonable doubt. it's the key to anything.


also gregster made a thread not long ago about how he checked a whole bunch of cars' stock exhaust and every single one had a different point where the tape/stick/wtv would stop. so tell your friend to do that experiment and photograph the results of 10 different cars with OEM exhaust to prove that whatever measurements the police took are irrelevant.



and people lie in court all the time. that's what court is. one side has to be lying right? or else there aren't 2 sides of a story to begin with. the legal system isn't about the truth, it's about being the best at convincing someone of your "truth".

There's a difference between citing facts that support your case, vs outright fabricating evidence. The cops don't just take a measurement with the brooch, they actually takes mesures of where the exhaust canister is, how long it's going into the canister itself (that includes total length before they hit something - tip length). So basically, if you try to make it seem your exhaust was stock, it's going to end up your word against his. And his always wins.

well on a 92 teg or a 91 civic the canister is alot further than the new ones cuz the canister is under the trunk making it a longer measurment
 
he just means that if you switch back to stock, IF the cop even took such measurements down at the time, they will differ from what it was with the fartcan.
