insurance . need help

i got pulled over yesterday and i didnt have my insurance papers as they are in the mail . can i contest or not?
 
no papers = dont drive, they dont care where the papers are, they only care if you have them in the car with you
 
they actually gave you a ticket?? I often did not have the papers on me, they would just ask with what company i was insured and thats it..
 
I would add. Expect a letter in a few mounts asking your to prove you were insured that day.
SAAQ, will be notofied and they will ask for it. So keep your papers straight.
 
Its something like a 52$ fine for not having your papers with you.

I sometimes forget to take my license with my (reg and insurance are in the car), and the cop just runs my name and checkes to see if my license is still valid.

Not HAVING Insurance (not the paper, but actual coverage) is a HUGE fine.
 
everytime you get new insurance, ask (and they should give you) for the policy number and some shit confirmation number. You can also ask them if they can fax/email you a proof of insurance.

it is indeed pretty rat to give such a ticket... but what can you do? Its just like the rear/brake lights burning while you're driving...
 
quand jme suis faite assurer je leur est demander je fais quoi si je me fait arreté. ils ont dit donne le numero de ta police d'assurance pcq les papier sont dans la mail.

The ticket is not for not being insured. Thats a lot more expensive.
The ticket is for NOT HAVING your insurance certificat with you.
So even if you prove you were insured the ticket is valid.
Your going to waste a whole day to go contest this!!??
Do the math.

l'infraction s'est d'avoir conduit un véhicule sans avoir avec lui la preuve d'assurance

et non

avoir conduit un véhicule alors qu'il n'était pas assuré.
 
Certificat et attestation d'assurance.

35. La personne qui conduit un véhicule routier ou qui en a la garde ou le contrôle doit avoir avec elle le certificat d'immatriculation du véhicule, sauf dans les 10 jours de l'immatriculation, ainsi que l'attestation d'assurance ou de solvabilité prévue par la Loi sur l'assurance automobile ( chapitre A-25).

Véhicule loué.

Si le véhicule routier est loué pour une période de moins d'un an ou s'il a été prêté par un commerçant, elle doit également avoir avec elle le contrat de location ou une copie de celui-ci ou un document faisant preuve de la durée du prêt.


Le seul délais est pour les 10 premiers jours d'immatriculation......donc quand on change d'auto.......

what do u mean . they guy was cool he was telling me he had a 10 second engine in a buick lol while he was writing me the ticket
 
I know a few people personnaly that contested tickets there and lets say you walk in the court room and are already at -10... but that was a while ago... it might have changed.
 
On what grounds are you going to contest anyhow ? Did you have the papers on you or not ?

The car being insured is not at issue here...
 
well one its not my car 2 its only been max 6 days that my friend had it in his name and it was the day after he called his insurance to insure the car
