So i was headed to oka yesterday, i had just gotten off the highway and i was on the 1 lane road which is a 50 zone, theres some guy doing 45 in front of me so i decide to be a smart ass and pass him on the left, i made sure there was no oncoming traffic and i went for it, as im going for it i just see cops in the distance, he points at me and i pull over right away...he gets me for crossing a double yellow line 3 points and 274$ and he also caught me at 100 for 10 points and 668$ for a grand total for 13 points and 942$...ive had my license for about 3 years now this is my first ticket...i do still have 2 points left...but should i get a lawyer and contest to lower the amount of points?...one of my friends was telling me about SOSticket...anyone have any experiences with them?...how badly will this affect my insurance/license renewal? any help will be greatly appreciated

We are now in the same situation (2 pts left)...seriously, just to secure your future, you should contest it to safe a few pts...I should have...

I think you know you are guilty, you can't contest this...but if you have a few $$$$$ to spend, go see a lawyer and safe points.

Don't think so...but I think he is not trying to defend himself from what he did, but just to know if it could be a good idea to contest to safe some points...

It's money or points, you decide. SOSTickets can usually lower the number of points you receive, but they will charge you for it.

buy some points!

hell after reading the drunk cop thread I'm starting to seriously find the justice system ridiculous!!

Contest, i got a ticket for going 100 in a 50 zone. The judge didn't believe a word i said, but because i had a witness he said it ends up being word against 2 words so he let me off with no points. and a nice 386$ ticket(was when it was cheaper)

kk thx for advice everyone...if i go to court and im able to get the points reduced... will my insurance and license renewal be less expensive or does it show on theyre records what my original ticket was?

Your licence renewal will be more expensive but your insurance premium won't change.

c'est genre 100$ le points ?

Your insurance might go up, it depends on the infraction and how they want to deal with it. They normally dont care about speeding. Red Lights and Stop Signs they have field days with since doing those "Can cause Accidents" and makes you more of a risk.

Price for points is : $50 for every 3 points lost on ur license. I know that because I lost 12 and had to pay $200 extra upon renewal.

SOSTickets ... Never dealt with them since I usually present my case myself, but from what I understand they are just a bunch of lawyer who specialize on traffic violations. Would'nt hurt to call. Be ready to $$$ :)

It's not really nessesary to use their service, usually if you show up, you can always make a deal with the prossecutor, unless you did something really stupid.

You can probably lower your speeding ticket and as for crossing the double line nothing you can do.

Alright this is what you can do, you can take advantage of the fact you didnt get a ticket for 3 years, claim that your a calm and careful driver in front of the judge, and that your 100% sure you didnt pass the other vehichle at 100kmh, but more in a range of 70-80 kmh,

and stick with this, you'll be ok, last year i got a ticket for 120 at a 70 zone i was able to lower to 90kmh and save a couple points and bucks, and also the fact it was my first ticket in 4 years.

also if you have a witness, even better
hope that helps man.
