I got pulled over on Decarie (in the trench, highway 15) by SPVM cops.

Can they do that? I thought they did not have jurisdiction, they could only call in the SQ?

The infraction was commited on the highway.
 
Any municipal police force can give tickets on the highway if theses conditions are met:

- They were not making a specific operation;
- The highway passes though their normal jurisdiction;
- They were a direct witness to the infraction.

So , how did they acknowledge your speed ? Where exactly ?

How fast you were , how fast they write the ticket for ????

Sq tolerates up to 115 ......*tu*

It would be a good thing that the max of info is input
when a situation is described , easier for everybody
trying to help . Even we can't help it is good
to learn where they lurk ....together we are
stronger !
 
That's 45 over the speed limit.

Yes that is true , 100 % true ....

But in reality this psl @ 70 is unduely too low for the
average speed practiced on Decarie ....and I don't
mean when the traffic is stalled ....the 85% centile
is closer to 90 then 70 ....

Look at the TQS reportage where they tagged people @ 123 and 130 ....
all the others are left in peace ....

My final argument : following stricly the psl on Decarie is dangerous ,
as much as 123 or 130 ....in the middle lies the good sense .
Road safety is so much more than a number on a radar screen.

Well it is only my personnal opinion ...Most Leos will disagree

When the cops pulled up behind us, we were both stopped at the red light at the off-ramp, the cops told us we had been racing on Decarie. They have no proof and I'm fighting it.
