'98 civic high idle + chk engine + engine "load"

hey guys,

my civic's check engine light has been ON for a while now...

Sometimes the car will run just great, but the light is ON. Then, randomly, idle speed will get to around 1500rpm and the engine will feel like it's under a load all the time. Like when I let go off the gas pedal, the car will decelerate faster than usual. It kinda feels as if the engine was trying to get back to 1500rpm asap. :dunno:

I checked the code and the light blinks fast 1 time. that would be code #1, which is Primary o2 sensor, but it's not even a year old!

I know that one of my spark plug wires and/or dist. cap is taking humidity, could this all be related or is it a different problem?

Could it really be my o2 sensor or maybe just the IAC valve or something like that? Maybe I should try cleaning my TB ?? :dunno:

nothing to do with the ignition system in my opinion
nothing to do with o2 sensoe either
those things dont cause for the motor to rev up and the o2 sensor on obd1 cars isnt something that will cause the engine to act abnormal, all it would do is run in safe mode(rich)

check the basics
maybe u have a vacuum leak, maybe u have a prestone leak and the iacv is constantly trying to adjsut the idle

i dont think there's a vacuum leak cuz as i said, the problem is intermittent. as for a prestone leak, i dont see anything wrong when looking at the engine, and my temp gauge is OK.
