Alright, after having thought about it long enough, i've decided to put a 1.8t in my mkiv golf 2L. I am looking for a 1.8t engine (one with 180hp so preferably year 2002.5 and up) + tranny + wiring etc (everything needed for a swap)
I dont have a set price in mind, but make your offers :run:

why dont u sell ur car and get a 1.8t instead??

I appreciate the advice, however i think with a new swap and a brand new engine, it will still come out cheaper than the mkiv 1.8t's and vr6's i have seen for sale(with mileage). Your right, it would be better for re-sale if i bought a stock gti, but this is my first car and i have many plans for it, dont think i will consider re-sale for at least 2-3 years.

Also, im not 100% sure, but wouldnt the insurance for a gti be much higher than for my 2L?

Edit: I bought my 2L from an old women driver/non smoker for a good price with 145,000KM + its made/assembled in germany

Les assurances montera pas vraiment, quand j'ai apeller y'avais une difference de + ou - 200$ par année. ( entre un 2L et 1.8T )

Serieusement moi je te conseil de vendre ton auto pendant qu'elle vaux quelque chose, dans 2-3 ans ton golf will worth nothing.

Sooo si tu vend ton char lived, environ 4-5000$ tu peu aller te chercher un GTI bone stock pour 10k ( sooo ton 5000$ du swap tu le sauve la ) et en plus ta tout les goodies du GTI. De plus tu te ramasse avec un char + recent

Oh d'accord, j'pensais que les assurances etais plus eleve, merci du conseil. Par contre j'ai trouve un swap 1.8t + tranny etc...Moteur neuf, pour 3500$ incluant l'installation...Donc est-ce que ca vaut la peine?
