My AC doesn't work anymore. I was wondering if I would remove it, would I gain some power ? I'll remove some weight for sure.

How long could it take to remove it... is it a hard job ? do I need tools, do I need to buy stuff ?

Is it worth it ?

Thanks

merci
mais j'ai déja visité ce site
J'ai aussi fait une recherche google mais je ne trouve pas l'info que je recherche dans aucune des deux sources.

Je sais que ca enleve du poids mais ce que je veux savoir c'est :

You will free up a bit of power, sure. Anything substantial? Probably not. You don't need any special tools to do it. Just cut the belt off, check if there is any pressure in the lines by putting a small screw driver in the fill valve (like deflating a tire), and then just remove things. The lines, the compressor, the condensor, etc etc etc....

dont wanna piss you off, but if you need to ask if you need tools to remove the A/C system, maybe it's not for you.

Yes you need tools btw lol. You will need to check out if your sistem still has pressure in it as s-spec mentionned... You will need to find a new belt (shorter) since you will not have the a/c compressor anymore. Everyting else you can remove. But i guess you will stop at the firewall, so you wont have to take out the hvac system in order to remove the evaporator.

b and d-series motors use a separate belt for the A/C compressor if I am not mistaken. Its just a matter of cutting off the old belt to save the hassle of removing the power steering belt first, etc...

i removed mine on my d-series and i kept the fan but i removed the belt and the compressor. It will reduce weight more then you will gain hp. It took me and my friend about an hour to remove the components.

lol, first off u dont need another or a shorter belt for that matter
second, fine, u can remove the belt, but removing the compressor and components wont increase any power whatsoever, niether will cutting off the belt

these are things that u will never notice a difference in terms of power
leave everything as, what if u wanna sell the car one day and the buyer wants ac?
its probably just a leak in the system, the reson being why it doesnt work
dont waste ur time
and by the way, the compressor weighs around 15lbs, IT WONT MAKE ANY DIFFERENCE, IF ITS ON OR OFF THE BLOCK

*blah*

Any accessories that the crank has to drive cause parasitic losses. YES you will free up power, butlike I said before, nothing jaw dropping. Also, removing 15 lbs over the front axle in a Honda makes a difference when it comes to how the car behaves on a track. Any weight you can take off the front is an advantage. Honda's understear like hell, and the usual 60-40 Front-Rear weight distribution doesn't help much. Do some research before you post.

LOL, parasitic? so now the ac compressor is a parasite??
if the ac is not ON, there are negligable losses to the crankshaft as the compressor is not producing any work, thus not requiring any input from the crankshaft!!!

fine, if u wanna salvage that 0.10 hp that will be freed if the belt is removed, go ahead
but as for reducing the weight of the car by removing parts that weigh a meer 10lbs, it would be better for the driver just to weigh 10lbs less!!!

you will never ever ever ever feel any difference by removing a 10lbs ac compressor
