i have a 2000 acura 1.6 el. bought the car over the summer. the car is lowered on neuspeed springs with original shocks.

for the winter i want to put the original ones back on or cut to the chase and install an adjustable suspension that i can keep high for winter and just lower it next summer. saving me the trouble of always taking the springs on and off.

however i was wondering what the best set up would be. what honda model is equivalent to the el? im guessing the 96-2000 civics, or is it the accords?

sites dont really advertise El parts so im having trouble finding parts that are compatible. so when i know which honda model to look at then it'll make my life a lot easier.

ok so after looking around im guessing its 96-00 civics and not the accord.. :p

should i go for different shocks and coils or a full coil over set-up?
i was quoted 1500 for tokico illumina coilovers installed...
but i dont want top of the line stuff... my car isnt going to be used on track, its just a daily driver

I would try to find some used coilovers for cheap, or maybe look on ebay or something if you don't want to spend to much.

Or you can just change the springs, how low is the car? You can get eibach springs that only lower the car a little bit so it would be fine for winter driving.

right now the car is dropped on neuspeed sport springs.
about 1.5 inches in the back and 1.75 in the front.

i think thats a lil too low for winter so i want to put my stock ones back on. so since ill be going through the trouble of putting the original ones back in and taking them back out next summer, i want something that i can adjust.

preferably i want something that will let me adjust up to 2 inches.
which make of coilovers do u suggest?

That's not too low for winter. I'm lowered 1.5" front and back and I survived last winter no problem.
I have Eibach pro-kit springs with Eibach pro-damper shocks btw. And don't just change your springs as your stock shocks weren't made to be with lowering springs and they will wear out faster, so do it right the first time, change the shocks and springs or get coilovers.
As for parts it's 96-00 US Civic EX parts, also engine parts are the same as the 96-00 Canadian Si. The only thing that won't fit perfectly are Civic front and rear lips.

yeah i'll keep it lowered for winter, ill just take off the lip and side skirts...
however i would really like finding something adjustable but not too expensive.

lets say i get that, which would fit my needs since i can adjust the height for summer & winter

im guessing i would need adjustable shocks as well.. like the kyb agx or tokico illumina's right?
or can the shock be un-adjustable, but made to be lowered withing a certain range... :dunno:
