Help!! Plz

im having a problem with my car


last week i installed an aem short ram intake on my s14

i think its unrelated, it worked fine until yesterday
it struggled a LOT when i tried to start it

then today i got in, put the key to on, the radio and dash lights all came on, headlights work etc... but when i try and start it. it does nothing at all it doesnt even turn over

i tried jumping it with my 626 but it still does NOTHING when i turn the key all the way... what could it be?

is it my starter?

i just went outside and tried it

it turned over once or twice then stopped, i left it about 30minutes and when i tried again it does nothing.. still has power but it wont turn over

the battery terminals seem to have some corrosion on them.. and a little bit on the wires too, however the radio and other stuff still works... could the battery be a problem?

try pushstarting your car if it does work its your started thats bad./

if it were the starter you'd hear a ticking noise every time you turn the key. Like click click click.... (the sound of the solenoid hitting metal, like it's not positionned right..) Try hitting it softly with an hammer, or with a screw driver touching the neg and pos a bit... it sparks and goes back in place.... if it's the starter I mean.. I had this trouble with my car 2 years ago... and finally it died.... if it's the battery I got one used for sale (for cheap.. was in my 240 before .. Now I got a Honda battery (lighter! lol)

im gonna take a look at it

so i worked on my car for a while, trying to figure out what was wrong... i bought a new digital multimeter for $15 at zellers (cuz i work there) and i had to buy one because my dad went to south carolina yesterday and took our voltmeter with him

anyway... in the end the battery and alternator are fine.. the starter however isnt

i banged it with a hammer and tried to attach a jumper cable to it and it sparked a lot then i hit it with the hammer a little more... then tried to start the car... it started right up

now when i try to start it ticks and doesnt work

so i guess i need a new starter right?

around how much will a new one cost and about how much to get it installed?
i dont want to wait 2 weeks for my dad to get home to install the starter and im not ready to do it myself!!

well i havent called all my contacts yet, but so far i can get one for 179.99 plus 35$ back so like 144

but my concern is HOW hard is it to change? will i be able to do it myself or do i have to wait for my dad to come back from the states? (hes a mechanic)

Normally a starter isnt the hardest thing to change, i think you should give it a try! Jack the car up and you will see, unless your a disaster with everthing that envoles mecanic, you should be able to do it!
