Flashing Airbag light !!

My Airbag light started flashing yesterday, does anyone know what it can be? a sensor? i just bought the car 3 weeks ago.

I heard that the airbags are under waranty for 10 years, is that true?

i hope it's under warranty! I always heard that shit was mad expensive to fix :-/

Uhm Try this...

Open the driver's door. Note the rubber covered button, a button which is
pressed by the door when the door is closed. This is the Driver's Door
Switch (DDS).

Turn the ignition from OFF to ON. Press the DDS at least 5 times within 7
seconds after turning the ignition switch ON. Turn the ignition OFF.
Close the driver's door. Start the engine.

Possible causes for this warning light to go on include...
- a fault with the Air Bag.
- abnormally low voltage in the electrical system due to a weak battery.
- a maladjusted door striker plate such that the door does not close properly,
and the DDS is jiggled on and off constantly as you drive.

Yeah I heard it could be very expensive. I'm just scared that the airbag will pop in my face while I’m driving.

But I still don’t know what scares me the most, the airbag in the face or the bill at the dealer! J/k :D

multiplexor, did you have the chance to ask your friend about those 2k mags?

And hey, what is that trick with the 'DDS' supposed to do? Temporarily close the airbag light?

the trick basically resets the status light and resets the part in the ecu that monitors te airbag.....

so it might come back, it might not... it could have just been your door not fully closed one time which set it off... ( i read somewhere that, the door hitting the light DDS switch repeatedly can set off the light)

but yeah, if it comes back, i would get it checked out... it's not urgent, unless you think your going to get into an accident... just means that the AIR bag sensor is giving a weird reading. :)

as for the mags, i'm waiting for a response from the guy :)

I have 17's mags and tires that have only been driven on for 20000km. Looking for $650 + shipping. Minor scratches from normal wear. Never winter driven.

Sounds like the side airbags

On a 99' GLE when the air-bag light is flashing, chances are the side air-bags are at fault. Nissan has a bulletin out on this. NOT a recall, but a service bulletin. Unfortunately, air-bags are only covered under the 3/60 warranty. And yes, they are expensive, sorry!! Don't worry, I've yet to see one explode.

there was a TSB on the airbag harness for the side airbags... if u reset the ecu for the airbag like what multiplexor said you may get a different code.. just try it again.. ur airbags will still work and its not critical... Multiplexor i thinmk i just missed you at the meet tonight.. wanted to show you the ground controls before i go to the winter setup
 
really? damn! I left at around.... 9 maybe? I didn't end up staying too long... I noticed only two 5th gen maximas there.... both from npclub.com :-/ damn!
 
I tryed to reset the light with the DDS switch but it didnt work. I'll just leave it like that for now. Max, where was that meeting at?

tried having it at the julep... but only 2 5th gens had popped up... I was with my gf just chilling in my car, waiting to see if any others showed up. No luck :-/
 
I just installed lowering springs on mine, it looks prety good (lost the 4x4 look) but the back is lower than the front and that suuucks!!! :-( Will the front go down with the weight of the engine? if so how long will it take!!!
